About this listen

Bagpuss, dear Bagpuss, old fat furry cat-puss, wake up, wake up and look at this thing that I bring...

Bagpuss, created by Oliver Postgate and Peter Firmin, is no ordinary cat. Bagpuss is a saggy old cloth cat who lives in a shop where lost and broken things are brought by Emily to be "mended" or given new life. When Bagpuss wakes up, so do his friends: Professor Yaffle, Madeleine, Gabriel, and the lively mice. Together, they uncover the stories behind these objects, using music, imagination, and fun to bring each one to life. Bagpuss's world is full of wonder, where even the simplest things can hold magical adventures.

Emily finds a broken toy bird and brings it to Bagpuss. The gang is excited to discover the story of flying! Professor Yaffle explains the history of flight, while Madeleine and Gabriel create songs about soaring through the sky. The mice, of course, add their usual fun and mischief, imagining all sorts of wild flying adventures. It's a playful and exciting episode that explores the wonder of flight, showing how even a broken bird can inspire dreams of flying high.
