About this listen

I'm not supposed to resonate to him.

It's been a few years since I've landed here on Icehome Beach, and as resonance after resonance dwindled the list of bachelors, I knew who I'd end up with. As soon as we got past our differences, I'd end up as R'jaal's mate.

On an everyday excursion, however, my khui decides otherwise. It sings all right...but not to R'jaal. Instead, I resonate to I'rec—the forceful, brash, overly-alpha leader of Shadow Cat. Did I mention he's got a long-distance girlfriend already?

It's a big mess, and it's about to get messier.

But as things get chaotic on the beach and our way of life is threatened with upheaval, it's the small things that end up mattering. Small things like the way I'rec kisses. Or the way we seem to have a lot more in common than we thought. Or the way I'rec can be gentle, but only with me....

Contains mature themes.

I love these stories and have read them several times, but I have no idea how I missed reading this one before. And I like the heat is 🌶🌶🌶 in most of them. Anyway, this story rubbed me the wrong way I must say. Because this whole universe is built around women and aliens who carry these parasites who choose their mate. After I don't even know how many stories I've read where it's very clear and obvious that you can NOT fight your parasite or choose for yourself, see there just because a woman has decided to have her cake and eat it at the same time, everything that has been said in probably 25-30 stories falls completely. Because a woman has a boyfriend and he can't get together with his intended mate because said woman made him a promise. Honestly I thought it was ridiculous. I didn't understand why create drama out of nothing. Everyone else followed the rule but apparently it looks like Tia is the one who can decide differently. It sounded quite absurd and annoying because I don't even understand the woman's anger and her absurd demands on a man who is clearly not hers. Resonance occurs with the person their parasite wants. Period! So yes, even though I thought I'rec and Flo were perfectly compatible with each other and the attraction was sky high, the first reaction they get when the resonance occurs between them is that they were not meant to be together but with others who are clearly not suitable for them. It sounded illogical and strange. The narrativ was spot on.

That Flo and I'rec ware the right partner to each other.
