This author is growing on me more and more. I love her books. This story kept me gripped from start to finish. I love how the family interacts with each other and the tale that interweaves around them all.

Lighthearted magical mystery

This is the start of a new series, while I did enjoy it, I felt like I had missed a book. This is because the characters already felt well established, with a history and I did wonder if they were a spin off from another series.

The characters were interesting and quirky, which kept me listening. Although the main character couldn't stop herself from getting in trouble by doing the exact thing everybody else told her not to. The idea of finding artefacts and locking them up so they don't get in the wrong hands is not a new idea but this family makes it work. I liked the way everybody got involved even the ghosts of there ancestors.

I was a little disappointed with who the killer turned out to be, because to be honest I felt like it was the family's fault they were involved in the first place. Who knew Crystal balls were so dangerous. I will probably give the next book ago, as it was a fun read for the most part.

Ruby Mae Jewel helps her family find and sell antiques, especially those possessing magical powers which can be dangerous to humans. So when a friend starts to use a Crystal balls to predict people's future, she steps in to take it away from her. The grandson is furious and wants the ball back, he even breaks in to the Jewel barn to find it. Instead his dead body is discovered and Ruby's uncle becomes the prime suspect. Can Ruby find the killer? Or will using the Crystal balls be to much of a temptation?

The narrator had a very southern accent which grated when I first started listening and it took me awhile to get use to.
