About this listen

When curvy American archaeologist Virginia Jones finds the lost burial mound of an ancient Anglo-Saxon king near the English city of Brighton, she uncovers much more than she expected. Unearthing a priceless artifact summons an evil dragon who'll stop at nothing to claim the treasure for his own hoard. Trapped in a burning building by a beast that ought to be imaginary, Virginia's only hope is to call for emergency....

Dai Drake has an unusual occupation for a dragon shifter - he's a firefighter, part of an elite all-shifter crew. When he rescues Virginia from the blaze, he instantly recognizes her as his one true mate. But how can he tell her what she is, when the first dragon she ever met was a greedy, bloodthirsty monster?

As Virginia and Dai work together to save the artifact from falling into the wrong claws, the spark between them quickly grows to an inferno. But will his secret make their relationship go up in smoke?

Had trouble getting into this book at first, had to keep restarting as couldn't keep up. dropped the speed to 80 and bingo, it all came to life 😊 Now looking forward to the other book in the series.

Enjoyable listen

It’s a shame that the narrator has obviously never heard a Welsh accent. It spoiled the story.

Well, she tried.
Various UK accents are very difficult and so different.
To have 5 or 6 to try in one book was not going to be easy. Bless her, she did try but, to me, failed abysmally.

I was disappointed as I did enjoy the kindle version and was looking forward to this one.

So sorry but I could not continue past chapter 4. Perhaps this is one of the times when various people should have attempted the story?

Sadly ruined for us brits by the welsh accent that in fact was nothing like a welsh accent. A welsh accent is more of a singsong and drawn out sound soft and lovely to hear. The accent I heard was more like a Scottish highland accent. This threw me all through the book. My welsh friends were appalled. I’d re write and make the dragon have a highland, Scottish heritage. Loved the story. Hated the appalling welsh accent…

nothing to really write home about. okay, for a quick read or a distraction whilst cleaning or something. the story was missing something. the humour just was humorous enough. maybe. maybe more for teens.

Okay, for a quick listen
