About this listen

This prequel tells the story of Sorcha and Aidan, finding magic and each other.

Aidan can't seem to make his powers work the way they should. Despite his father's instruction, he struggles with the tasks set for him at the mage academy. His brother, Kieran, excels at magery. Why can't he?

Sorcha has grown up without magic. An orphan from a mountain town, she thinks she's going mad when her familiar first arrives and starts talking to Sorcha - in her head. Desperate for a place to belong, she sets off to find where she came from. Once she starts exploring her powers, however, she discovers she has a rare gift, one Lord Scanlan desperately wants and is willing to kill to get.

I enjoyed they story as a whole it is a story of a girl finding / coming into magic. In places elements seems a little rushed and could have been developed further, but overall I enjoyed this; the ending seemed especially rushed and stops what seems mid story unfinished - looking online I found this is a prequel to a set of three stories which may explain this (maybe would be better as combined books?) unfortunately at the time of writing this review the others are not on audible but do appear to be on Amazon and kindle. I have some unanswered questions and hope to see the next book(s) on soon to find out what next.

I received this audiobook for free and provide an honest review.

Enjoyable story but stops midway - this is noted as a prequel story
