About this listen

Isaac Grant has lived in Foggy Basin for all of his twenty-three years. Everything was perfect until his favorite friend with benefits, Jack, met the love of his life. Sure, he was happy for Jack, but he missed him and wanted someone of his own to keep him warm at night, or to get into trouble with.

Tig Sawyer left Foggy Basin after only living there for a little over a year. He graduated from high school and moved onto an out-of-state college and, for the most part, never looked back. But memories of that slower pace always came back to him when he was neck deep in work, and his personal life.

Isaac was never looking for a relationship and was more than happy to live his life loose and free, but since meeting Tig, he wonders why he never wanted someone of his own. He also questions why someone like Tig, who has his life together and always seems happy as hell, would want to take him on. But there’s something in the way Tig looks at him that says he’s more than willing.

Foggy Basin, home to Isaac, best friend, and one time friend-with-benefits to Jack, now part-owner of the hardware store which readers of BL Maxwell's other Fogy Basin title will be familiar with. Not only is Isaac missing those benefits now Jack has a boyfriend, but he is also without a job. Until the local rice drying facility takes him on. At the same time as they take on Tig.

Also a local, Tig left when he was old enough to but has discovered coming back has its benefits - especially Isaac! The only problem is Tig wants to go a little slower than Isaac at the getting to know one another part. Still, they find a way that works for them both soon enough!

As romance blooms BL Maxwell guides us through the journey these two men are taking, their growing connection and their growing love of their new jobs. Listening to the story gives it a new dimension, an exciting one and it helps that the narrator is able to inject feeling, expression and differentiate the characters. A great listen, at just a few hours long it is ideal for an afternoon or evening listen whilst relaxing! It's just the ticket.

Isaac and Tig have a bit of a rocky start, mainly due to a previous misunderstanding, or better, a miscommunication. But as soon as they clear the air, it’s clear sailing onwards.
The book is part of a multi-author series, but you don’t need to have read the other stories to enjoy this one.
I loved Guy’s performance. I found it perfect for this story.

This was super cute and low angst.

Tig grew up in Foggy Basin, moved away and is now back.
Isaac has always lived in Foggy Basin.
They met at a Christmas party and realized they have great chemistry.
When they realize they'll be working together, both have differing opinions about the situation.
Tig is leery of letting anyone get close again because he doesn't want to be hurt.
Isaac is only interested in hooking up and having fun.
He quickly realizes that if he wants more from Tig he's going to have to put in the effort and actually get to know him.
They develop a friendship that soon becomes more for them both.
They do have some issues but thankfully they're able to resolve things for their HEA.
Guy Veryzer did an amazing job narrating and bringing these characters to life.

Short, sweet, great addition to the series

Enjoyable narration which fits particularly well with low angst stories such as this one.
Story - 3.5 stars. A pleasant low angst story fitting seamlessly with the previous Foggy Basin book by this author. A good slow growth relationship, although I would have liked a bit more depth in their original antagonism. It was nice to see more of the Nuts and Bolts characters.

good
