Fab for any Kinsella fans
Review: I'm a massive Sophie Kinsella fan and so I was really looking forward to reading her latest work and I enjoy reading young adult almost as much as adult books so I was intrigued to see what this one was going to be like. I have to say I really enjoyed this, I knew that I would but it was much deeper than I was expecting it to be, dealing with issues that Kinsella has not dealt with in her shopaholic series and so this was quite a refreshing change. I would say that even if you are a fan of her adult novels, you won't necessarily be a fan of this one as it has a darker edge to it, but I am sure there are plenty of readers out there that will appreciate that darker edge as much as I did!
I liked Audrey as a character, despite the fact that she has ahad a bit of a break down and now doesn't really deal with social situations at all she is still someone who won't give up. There are some really interesting interactions with her family and with her therapist that show that once she sets her mind to something, she really won't let it go and I like that attitude in my heroines! Her family and her brother's freind Linus are as much big characters in the novel as she is, in fact the beginning portion of the novel is very much dealing with her brother and his online gaming addiction! (I did wonder at that point why it was called finding Audrey when she didn't feature heavily to begin with!)
There are some really funny moments in this novel, Sophie Kinsella has such a way with words and writing dead pan lines it's unreal! I was laughing out loud at some points. Audrey's mum is definitely a comedy character and her addiction to what the daily mail says is seriously funny! Audrey is also a funny character and her humour really grows as the novel moves on. Linus is an essential character to Audrey's growth and towards her recovery and I would love to read something from his point of view or any kind of spin off novella, that would be great!
Although this novel does deal with anxiety and depression and all that goes with it as well as general teen angst and the way all these things can out strain on a family, Kinsella has written the novel incredibly well. At no point did I feel the negativity seeping into my own mood and at no point did this seem like some sort of informative piece on teens in today's society. There was some comedy, some romance, some real life issues and a strong sense of family. I really enjoyed this book and hope that Sophie Kinsella does the YA novel again soon!

Not very good for Sophie Kinsella - voice performances not very good, story not really very good, what a shame
The terrible voice performances ruined this story, maybe if they had picked a better choice of voices I would have enjoyed it more, but I don't think the story was that great and quite predictable anyway, so overall very disappointing as I usually love Sophie kinsella's books.

Boring
This book isn't very interesting and could explain what actually happens with the bullying instead of leaving it as a mystery. I could very slightly relate to her but overall I felt like the book dragged on. Also I don't know if I'm the only one who's thought this but it felt like the whole of the first half of the book ( and some of the second half ) was just about Frank playing computer games?!?! This didn't really affect Audrey much and I just really don't understand why it was such a big part of the book, not that it was exciting or interesting anyway.
Overall I would not recommend this book, I felt like I could have read a better book instead of this one wasting my time (or the book I was meant to start reading over Easter break)

Great read
As this book started it became clear the main driver was the anxiety disorder Audrey suffers and I have to say I was a little nervous of how that would be handled, but I felt Sophie kinsella approaches a sensitive topic very responsibly and manages to keep a sense of realistic journey for the character alongside an engaging sorry.
I'm not sure if this is an adult or young audit book, but I felt a nod to online bloggers around anxiety and depression such as scarlet curtis, and I think it's great to see mainstream female-focused literature covering those topics. I'd definitely recommend it to young adults as the main character is that age, but as an adult who could relate to some of Audrey's experiences I got a lot out of the book both from her perspective and her family's.
I thought the the narrator was well chosen and fit the characters much better than other books where they just sound too old!

Finding Audrey
Absolutely loved it, written from the perspective of a young girl struggling with anxiety issues. She and her family are going through a tough time with her own needs, the effect it's having on those around her plus her family's own problems. They are a likeable bunch of characters who at times had me in fits of laughter as well as tears ....... it's also got alot of helpful insights into dealing with mental health in adolescents.

It's more like a self-help book than fiction
A very unusual book. It took a while to get into. I wasn't keen on the narrators voice but got used to it.
This really is more like a Self Help book for teenagers or patients of young people with anxiety issues.
I did however feel the need to see it through to the uninspiring end.
Not the best Sophie Kinsella book I've read but well written.
