Summary

A pretend relationship. A deadly game. One misstep, and it could mean both of our lives.

I’m just a girl, with dreams too big and hopes verging on hopeless.

I never planned to become his.

Nathan Stone. Fiercely handsome. Powerful.

The pull between us borders on primal.I need to be careful. He’s a dangerous man with even more dangerous enemies.

He took a big gamble, lying to protect me.

Now his future is on the line as much as mine, and we have to keep up this charade. Make it look convincing.

But when his lips touch mine, I taste only truth.

When he pulls me into his arms, it feels like forever.

It can’t just be the ruse and the danger of getting caught.

My heart says this is real....

And I’ll follow him to the ends of the Earth to prove it.

Suspense and romance at it's best!

I don't even know where to start with this book by Lauren Landish. I am a huge lover of romantic suspense, and this one did not give it to me only once, but twice. Written in 4 points of view, we get two intertwined mysteries with two budding romances, each having all the elements of thrills and passion. Nathan Stone in search of his father's killer. When Emma goes undercover for her FBI sister to find out information on him, their story begins. Carly witnesses Kyle strangling the breath out of a man in an alley, and their attraction begins. These two women are best friends, these two men in search of murderers. Their interconnecting stories lead to mystery and intrigue, much like National Treasure. It's a hunt to the finish, and it's fun, passionate and thrilling. The 4 points of view are concise and easy to keep straight. Nathan is a man with not only looks, but brains and a mission. He is quite the alpha male and does his best to try to keep Emma in line. Emma is a fiercely passionate, falls hard and knows intuitively what she wants. I love her spunk and brains. Carly is the free spirit of the bunch, but when she meets Kyle, she quickly is grounded. I find her realistic with real perseverance. Kyle is achingly sad at times, but I love his awakening to life as he learns to let go of his past. It's a fast paced ride, sure to keep you wondering who the is at the top of this crime chain and invests your heart in the two couples. The perfect listen for me!

Four points of view with four narrators was incredible. And the team chosen is spot on! Lance Greenfield, Carly Robins, J.F. Harding, Melissa Moran give each character the perfect sound and personality. Their voices fit each character. Lance with his deep rasp as Kyle compliments Carly Robins as Carly as JF Harding's smooth sound as business man Nathan seamlessly matches with Melissa Moran's Emma. It's a great listen, perfect for your ears.

Wow!

Wow! I am speechless! That was one amazing story. It follows four characters that all intertwine together. There is a little of everything in this story. Lauren Landish has outdone herself once again. Just when you think you have it figured out, there are twists. Great story! The narration with 4 narrators was fantastic! I have read the book & now after listening to it I love it even more. There was so much emotion & chemistry put into it.

Mystery, deceit, danger, hot alpha men, win win.

Five stars doesn’t even begin to show how great this book really is. From the very beginning it pulls you in to the story and takes you on a journey with two couples that are struggling to find peace and truth in a corrupt and dirty world.

Nathan Stone and his brother Caleb are hiding something. The FBI has reason to believe they are dirty with a capital D so Claire, FBI agent gets her sister Emma to go undercover and find out what she can.

Kyle is struggling to breathe. His world has crumbled around him. He doesn’t know how to deal with the small whirlwind that is Carly who has blown into his life but he can’t seem to get rid of her.

This book takes us on a long and winding journey between two couples and other great characters that take us to the edge of danger and pull us back with love and lust. There is Russian mafia and mercs and theater and money and adventure and danger. Lots of mysteries to try and solve and pain to heal. I love every book this author writes and in my opinion this is her best yet and that’s saying a lot. All of her books are great but this one could be a movie. It’s so good.

Now the icing on the delicious cake is the line up of amazing narrators. Lance Greenfield, Carly Robins, J.F. Harding, and Melissa Moran blew me away with the audio book. They did a great job making this story come to life and kept me pulled in from start to finish. I highly recommend this audio.

I DNF this audio after multiple tries

I went into this story based on feedback I've seen and recommendations. I felt the story was too scattered, I couldn't connect with the characters enough for me to care and be invested, the build up seemed more like insta-lust and that is not something I tend to enjoy and to be honest, I just couldn't get into it. The narration was good overall. I am familiar with 3 of the 4 narrators and they all did great. My issue is more towards the story.

....ENOUGH ALREADY..

I just had to quit listening. This story just didnt work for me. The whole plot is unbelievable! An FBI agent does NOT send her sister to do uncover work at a party, the sister doesn't proceed to fall from behind a tree eavesdropping.. and who gets an acting part that they dreamed about and then quits after one night to follow a guy that she barely knows to Latin America?

Wonderful!

Lauren Landish did, indeed, weave a tangled web with four lives and experiences. It's thrilling how expertly she wove two fascinating stories together and meshed them so well. Nathan Stone has never wanted to work in the family jewelry business but tragedy struck the family and he inherited The Stone Corporation, a billion dollar empire. Emma Daniels comes from a wealthy family who wanted her to follow in their footsteps. When she decides she'd rather be an archaeologist, she is completely cut off. She is also an aspiring actress who has just been given her first role in an Off-Broadway show of Cleopatra. It never gets going, however, because her sister Claire shows up and needs her to do something for her. Claire is an FBI agent and trying to track down a global illegal jewel operation and she gives Emma one name...Nikolai. She is instructed to go to a party given by Nathan Stone to see what she can learn. Carly Edwards is Emma's best friend from school. She also grew up in a wealthy family and has decided to get away from their stifling expectations. While backpacking across Europe, she sees a fight involving Kyle. He is trying to escape his personal tragedy by finding the people responsible. She notices a look in his eyes that tells her not to be afraid of him. The beauty of this book is that it is written with so many layers of action, treachery, murder, trust and love that it grabs your attention and won't let go. It really has something of everything!

A wonderfully erotic tale, with lots of action!

This was a complicated, layered story that flowed smoothly. The audiobook was so good.

Nathan and Emma; Kyle and Carly. All fighting their own demons, but fate puts them in one another's paths.

This was an emotional ride. Lots of action, and plenty story to tell. Hopefully, there's another tale after this.

besties always make a great story

I enjoyed this book story of a guy mad at the father and the world may be what it's intended to be but I focused on the two besties and thier two roads that lead to one path.
the ladies in this story both grabbed me and I enjoyed thier fierceness to be in the front and center when they found the man they wanted.

I enjoyed the storyline so much the actual steamy scenes as good as they were just seemed like a addition. all the action and drama held my attention and I could actually see this book as a movie.

Loved this story!

Ok, I have read almost all of Lauren Landish’s titles, but this one is very unique. Not just for her, but it’s different than any books I’ve read! First it has two main couples, not one. It’s a four person POV. I’ve seen some say they didn’t like that, but I thought it was great. I don’t know how anyone could get confused or distracted by that like I’ve seen in other reviews. I have even seen people say they read two books at once - this is much easier to follow along since the stories do blend together later. The four voices were also very distinctive so it was easy to tell them apart. It’s also very suspenseful and fast paced. I was surprised at how fast I finished the listen, since it is a bit longer than a lot of other books I have read. It just doesn’t seem like it since it moves and keeps you very interested. One other thing I loved was it was very unpredictable. I don’t want to go into too much more detail and ruin it with spoilers, but I definitely recommend!!! Just like I would recommend all of her books!
