Summary

Migliaia di anni fa, il programma di terraformazione della Terra si è esteso verso le stelle, e su un mondo chiamato Nod gli scienziati hanno scoperto una forma di vita aliena.

Tuttavia la loro missione prevedeva che la cancellassero, sovrascrivendo su di essa la memoria del loro mondo. Poi però il grande impero della Terra è caduto e le decisioni relative al programma si sono perse nelle pieghe del tempo.

Eoni più tardi, gli esseri umani e i loro nuovi alleati - i ragni noti come Portiadi - intercettano frammentari segnali radio fra le stelle e inviano una nave esplorativa, la Voyager, nella speranza di trovare i loro cugini provenienti dalla Vecchia Terra.

Non sanno però che gli antichi terraformatori hanno destato su Nod qualcosa che sarebbe stato meglio lasciar dormire indisturbato. Qualcosa che li sta aspettando.
