About this listen

Caleb

As a teenager, I learned firsthand how untrustworthy and cruel a woman could be.
She destroyed me from the inside out and took everything from me.
The first chance I got, I ran and have been running from my past ever since.
Until I met Hayley.
She's a complete game changer.
She's everything I never thought a woman could be.
She's honest and sincere and completely selfless, and by some miracle, she's fighting for me.
I'm learning, if I want to keep her, I'm going to need to find the courage to fight for us.

This is an emotional story about Caleb, who had an awful upbringing and therefore, swore off relationships. I absolutely loved how strong Hayley was and how she supported him so that he could grow. The addition of Marco, who also had an awful childhood and became Hayley and Caleb's ward by need (trigger warnings here for a particularly difficult scene where Marco was separated from his family) elevated the story by showing the strength and characters of our couple but also the world that was created by this author. This story was fully elevated by a great narration with multiple newer to me narrators who did an awesome job bringing the emotions to the forefront. This story will stay with me for a while!

Narrators Lexi Evans and Vincent Skye truly brought Caleb and Hayley's tumultuous journey to life. Their performances were nothing short of mesmerizing, encapsulating the raw emotions and depth of these complex characters. Lexi's portrayal of Hayley conveyed her strength and compassion with such authenticity. It felt as if she was right beside me, sharing her story. Vincent, on the other hand, embodied Caleb's tortured soul and gradual transformation with a sensitivity that gripped my heart. The duo's ability to navigate the delicate nuances of pain, love, and redemption in this narrative made the listening experience incredibly immersive. Their voices didn't just tell a story; they made me feel every ounce of the characters' struggles and triumphs, adding a whole new dimension to this already compelling tale. The story itself, a tapestry of pain, love, and redemption, was beautifully rendered. The narrative's exploration of trust, healing, and the power of love added layers of complexity that were both heart-wrenching and uplifting. The addition of Marco's storyline intertwined with Caleb and Hayley's, added a rich layer of emotional depth and complexity, making the tale not just a romance but a journey of collective healing and finding light in the darkest of places.

Hayley is a doctor at the gym that Caleb trains at. She has a serious crush on him and has for quite a while, but he acts like she doesn't even exist, despite the kiss they shared one night based on a dare.

Hayley is struggling with the idea that she is getting older and she is still alone. She would like a family, but currently has no prospects and the only guy she is interested in definitely isn't an option.

Caleb has a long-standing lack of trust when it comes to women and therefore no desire to be in a relationship. His friends have started to settle down and he likes their wives/girlfriends, but in general, his past has made him want to stay far away from women. Except, occasionally, he wonders if things could be different when he looks at Hayley, but he never spends too long thinking that way.

My heart broke for Caleb and all he went through as a teenager and the lack of family to help support him. Despite his traumatic upbringing, he had such a beautiful heart and I loved how much he wanted to help Marco. I really liked Hayley as the main female character. She was relatable and I loved how great she was with Marco and the relationship they built. I really also just enjoy this great set of friends that have become family.

It definitely wasn't easy for Caleb and Hayley to get to any type of place where they could look at building a happily ever after, but I couldn't help but internally cheer them on anyway. This story wasn't pretty and it lacked sunshine and rainbows, but there was so much love in unexected places.

I think this is my favorite book of the series so far, and I highly enjoyed the narration. Both Lexi Evans and Vincent Skye did a fantastic job with the narration in this story. Both were highly enjoyable to listen to. I cannot wait to listen to Kaden and Ashley's story next. PinkFlamingoProductions TheFlockVIPReviewTeam

I loved the dual narration from Lexi Evans and Vincent Skye

After his mother and sister died, Caleb didn't have a good childhood. Hayley is the resident Doctor at Coopers the gym that Caleb, a MMA fighter trains at. Caleb and Hayley's story will pull at your heartstrings. You will find yourself pulling for the characters. This is book, full of drama angst and heartache.

I am loving Nikki Ash’s “Fighting” series and I have been looking forward to Caleb’s story from what we saw of his behavior in the last book I knew his story was not an easy one, that he had some issues and possibly skeletons in his closet. Haley, a doctor of sports medicine, works with the fighters, and has an attraction to Caleb, but he does not reciprocate those feelings. Actually, his friends never saw him show a romantic interest to anyone, and he has his reasons, ones he never shared, not even with his closest friends. Hailey is getting ready to more past her feelings for Caleb, friend-zoning him instead. Caleb had taken an interest in a kid from the neighborhood, Marco, and took him under his wing. Marco has a crap home life and had to grow up fast despite still being a kid and when trouble comes his way, it is Caleb and then Haley who help him get out of it and keep him safe. I had some guesses where this story was leading, but did not know how it was going to get there and was blown away by it all. Some of it was hard to hear and watch, gut-wrenching, and it was some journey for Caleb, and for Marco, too. And they could not have had a better person by their side than Haley and all his friends who had their back. Loved watching Caleb overcome his past and put his demons to rest, also loved watching what they did for Caleb and his sister. Nikki Ash never disappoints, the writing, plot and world building are fantastic, as are the character growth and development. The drama is non-stop and there is plenty of angst, heartfelt emotions, and a slow burn, but so worth the wait romance. Thank you for another amazing story and emotional rollercoaster ride.

🎧📚🎧 Lexi Evans and Vincent Skye did an amazing job bringing these characters to life and did so with a complete understanding of who they were portraying, giving each a voice that was fitting and believable. Evans played Haley’s role with perfection, grasping all aspects of her personality, from her caring side to her strength and determination. Skye was just as fantastic in his role as Caleb, grasping his demeanor perfectly. Both were fabulous performing the roles of the secondary and support characters, too. They set the right tone for the story, captured all the characters’ emotions and had you feeling each one. These entertaining storytellers are a pleasure to listen to and their performance elevates this already fantastic story to another level. Thank you for another excellent listen.
