This book was previously published as The 400Lb Gorilla.

Seriously funny contemporary urban fantasy fiction.

Luck. If only you could bottle it...

Matt Danmor’s brush with death uncovers a fantastical truth, plunging him into a world of intrigue and chaos.

With his ex, Silvy, back at his side and Kylah from The Dept. of Fimmigration ever watchful, he stumbles into a plot to undermine civilisation across several worlds. Matt is faced with a simple choice. Believe that everything he sees is a figment of his traumatised imagination, or accept that it is all terrifyingly real.

In which case, he’s got a hell of a lot of catching up to do. Plus a whole hive of demonic zealots to fight.

The multiverse is holding on for a hero.

Trouble is, Matt never got the memo…

Fiends In High Places is the debut Fantasy Crime Thriller in the Hipposync Archives series.

I enjoyed the characters, and the plot was quite original. The humour was very quirky too. A fun read!

Great fun!

story was great, narration not so much. very robotic delivery. shame as it could be a really top title.

I really enjoyed this, the story was fun and the characters were interesting and nicely awkward.

The only slight criticism is the really long pauses between chapters which got me checking that my phone was still working every time.

Good fun and engaging characters

It really is a good story. Matt (or Mike) is a likeable character and you start to become attached to him. It might be the elements of 'bad luck' or his general outlook on life as a whole that I resonated with, but I feel for the most part, he was a likeable character.

What damages this book, and the series, is the narration. I have seen the word "robotic" splashed around a few times, and whilst it nearly is 100% accurate; I disagree. I would go along the lines of an over-enthusiastic news presenter on his first ever 6 o'clock programme. He's trying too hard to keep the listener engaged (my thoughts) and it borders on the AI side of narration. It's a shame, because the book doesn't need the eager, over-excited pronunciations to keep the listener listening.

If one can get past this rather large hurdle, then I think it would be well worth the reward at the end.

Excellent story... However
