About this listen

Brought to you by Penguin.

The secret to productivity isn't discipline. It's joy.

We think that productivity is all about hard work. That the road to success is lined with endless frustration and toil. But what if there's another way?

Dr Ali Abdaal - the world's most-followed productivity expert - has uncovered an easier, happier path to success. Drawing on decades of psychological research, he has found that the secret to productivity and success isn't grind - it's feeling good. If you can make your work feel good, then productivity takes care of itself.

In this revolutionary book, Ali reveals how the science of feel-good productivity can transform your life. He introduces the three hidden 'energisers' that underpin enjoyable productivity, the three 'blockers' we must overcome to beat procrastination, and the three 'sustainers' that prevent burnout and help us achieve lasting fulfilment. He recounts the inspiring stories of founders, Olympians, and Nobel-winning scientists who embody the principles of Feel-Good Productivity. And he introduces the simple, actionable changes that you can use to achieve more and live better, starting today.

Armed with Ali's insights, you won't just accomplish more. You'll feel happier and more fulfilled along the way.

Critic reviews

Ali is the master of productivity. Nobody has a talent for distilling complicated ideas into fun, accessible and actionable insights quite like him. (STEVEN BARTLETT, creator of Diary of a CEO)
Ali is the absolute master on how to be productive without sacrificing your own happiness. This is the book we've all been waiting for. (Dr Julie Smith, author of Why Has Nobody Told Me This Before?)
In this eye-opening and important new book, Ali Abdaal flips the conventional narrative on productivity: accomplishing important things is not about creating more efficient systems but instead about cultivating a deeper energy for your work. This really got me thinking! (Professor CAL NEWPORT, Georgetown University, author of Deep Work and Digital Minimalism)

Ali’s hypnotic voice is so genuine and calming, I always feel like he’s talking directly to me, and he just makes sense. He can make often quite complex psychological concepts, seem clear and relatable to your own life. Thanks Ali. This book is excellent.

Easy to understand

i enjoyed listening to it, but if you consume all Ali' content on Youtube, you will find a lot of redundancy and probably you don't need to buy this book, unless you want everything in one place.

A Good book

The book is fine, though I haven’t found any new concepts for me there. Would probably be a good start for a productivity newbies though :)
Also the voice seems to be slightly weirdly sped up, so I recommend going down to 90% speed 😅 flows better this way

I loved that the book is structured into three parts, discussing the philosophy of “Feel-Good Productivity,” practical strategies for sustainable productivity, and long-term application and life integration. Overall it was short, easy , inspiring and fun to listen to especially if commuting .
But Ali I was so disappointed with the narration . I am really sorry to say it was by the second half of the book very irritating. There could have been someone doing some editing and refining . It seemed that you wanted to be productive and efficient and get the book recorded it in one day . It’s your first time to do book narration but you have a team who could did more work to put the book out .

You find That this is a collective dense experiences of Ali in one book
