About this listen

Graeme only wanted a pint.

He'd even have taken one of those fruity craft beers in a pinch, but it seemed Fate had other plans...which is strange, because as it turns out, Graeme is possibly the only being in the universe unaffected by the otherwise divine and tangible force of destiny. Immune to its machinations, he is Fateless.

So, when he inadvertently disrupts his best friends summoning into another world, the Gods offer him a choice. Fix the mistake, or sentence said friend and world he's destined to save to a particularly nasty end.

Reborn into a new world in the body of Minotaur, Graeme will have to survive frozen wastes, vicious slavers, and perilous dungeons. All whilst adapting to strange game-like powers, delivered and explained to him by an overly enthusiastic voice in his head.

It's not all bad news though. Sure he might be the only Scotsman he knows with horns, but this lack of Fate seems to come with some benefits. The ability to wreak havoc with the pre-ordained plans of the Gods might just give him the edge he needs.

Guess the pint will have to wait.

Really interesting world based on everyone but MC having a predetermined fate. The progression system is also nicely implemented. Excellent start to a series.

Moovalous story

a great addition to the genre and a strong first piece by the author. good pace of progression and a world that feels alive, with a sense of so much more to come. definitely worth a purchase, and I look forward to what comes next

an impressive first entry

The first few hours or so of the audiobook, i had to reduce the speed to 0.9x as the scottish accent was difficult to grasp at first.. but later i did return the speed to my normal speed of 1.1x.

The story itself i felt was generally very slow paced, which often made me feel lost and bored. and i wanted to quit it many times, but the story really came to fruition in the last 10 chapters or so... which might make me return for a Book 2.

i really didnt like and understand the gemstone approach to ranks, as i have no connection to how gemstones would be ranked, which led to alot of confusion about how strong/weak different characters were. instead of just using the "normal" iron, bronze, silver etc.

Interesting story... but!

A refreshing direction to the litRPG catalog, would recommend to anyone who likes fantasy and highland humour.

Will be keep my ear to the ground for book 2

Really enjoyed this book. The storytelling was excellent, switching between serious and funny moments well which helped keep the pacing interesting. Great first book to the series and I can’t wait to see what follows!

Great Storytelling and a fun read/listen
