I enjoyed this book immensely - Dean Koontz has a marvellous imagination, and I didn't anticipate the many twists amd turns of this book. He is a greatly underestimated author. For some reason, I found listening to the fist part a bit depressing but stuck with it and was rewarded with a great listen. As usual, there are dogs involved, but I like dogs! I have no hesitation in recommending this audiobook to anyone.

Returned to this and again struggled through the early part of the book which I still find a little unbelieveable and made all the more annoying with the narration (which is good throughout, don't get me wrong) but, if I was simply reading this I could skip over a lot of the repetative and frustrating bits which I just don't feel progress the story but, as I'm listening to it, I have to accept that as part of the experience.

However, once the story begins to unfold a little more I found it much more gripping and entertaining and I came out the other side of this book having really enjoyed it. For anyone daunted by the length of this book I would say that there is a lot of unnecessary detail to begin with but it's worth perservering as the overall story is well handled.

This is the first book by this author and this author can tell a story. Wont give anything away, but the plot is very good. Great likeable characters which are of course intense! Really exploring deep into their minds - Nothing sloppy or rushed but very well described (probably a little too much for me)It does start off a fraction too slow, but you soon get sucked into wave of the book - My only complaint, as i mentioned above is this author does do detail, whilst the devil is in the detail it can get tedious if overdone. This of course is my opinion as I do like fast pacey thrillers. Overall this has obviously taken alot of thought and time and as a result the book is smashing. Definitely worth your money.

This was my first Koontz book, and I was pleasantly suprized by its overall quality. It's a dark, pychological tale with a few twists, and although builds reasonably slowly at the beginning, it picks up pace afterwards moving steadily to an exciting, satisfying conclusion. Personally, I thought the pacing was just about right for the unfolding story, it kept my interest to go on to continue the listen throughout.

The main characters are well drawn, so you follow their progress with empathy, and the villain, well let's just say, he gets into your mind (* you'll know what I mean if you listen to the book)

If you like chillers, you definitely won't go wrong with this one. Oh, and incidently, the narrator does a really good job of bringing the villain to life, you'll be routing for his demise. Just don't answer the phone whilst listening. (*)
