Summary

Jeffrey Archer, one of the greatest popular novelists of our generation, delivers a truly page-turning thriller in False Impression.

When an aristocratic old lady is brutally murdered in her country home the night before 9/11, it takes all the resources of the FBI and Interpol to work out the connection between her and the possible motive for her death –a priceless Van Gogh painting. It's a young woman, who was in the North Tower when the first plane crashed into the building, who has the courage and determination to take on both sides of the law and avenge the old lady's death.

Anna Petrescu is missing, presumed dead, after 9/11 and she uses her new status to escape from America, only to be pursued across the world from Toronto to London, to Hong Kong, Tokyo and Bucharest, but it is only when she returns to New York that the mystery unfolds.

Why are so many people willing to risk their own lives and others' to own the Van Gogh Self-Portrait with Bandaged Ear?

What a joy!

Masterful descriptions bringing each of the countries alive. Lorelei King's voice is pure pleasure to listen to. As an extremely picky accent/dialect self-styled judge I thought that this was one of 'the best ever' mixtures of American and English with perhaps two inaccurate Americanised Englsh pronunciations in the whole book - together with the inevitable

Had to keep listening at expense of housework etc!

Did not like the American voice which was too much of the same pitch. The story had an incredibly complicated plot and was clever as usual with this author.

Interesting plot

Kept one guessing until the end, really clever, good set of characters. Jeffrey Archer, at his best.

Did archer really write this rubbish?

Ih ad to listen to the end to be convinced that the author - i should say the brilliant author - of The Clifton Chronicles - could bring himself to be associated with this this nonsense. He should fire his unworthy ghost writer, as I am quite sure that he could not have penned it himself. It is not worthy of him

Dreadful

We have enjoyed listening to the Clifton Chronicles and his prison diaries but oh my, this one was shockingly bad, it had more holes in the plot than my granny's lace shawl ! Sadly I think we're done with JA, the plot was so ridiculous-who has a Van Gogh without security when there is a known assassin on the loose connected to the painting? Bonkers

Enjoyable Read

Entertaining, in some places a bit far fetched, and not too true to life, but it is a fast faced book that I thoroughly enjoyed. My second archer book and can recommend this one if you enjoy a good yarn.

One of the best Audio books i’ve had the good fortune to come across,
it was even better the second time around as I missed several details the first time. Thank you lord Archer and Audible.
