About this listen

Darkness falls on the Great Green, and the Ancient World is fiercely divided. On the killing fields outside the golden city of Troy, forces loyal to the Mykene King mass. Within the city, the Trojan king waits. Ailing and bitter, his hope is pinned on two heroes: his favourite son, Hektor, and the dread Helikaon, who will wreak terrible vengeance for the death of his wife at Mykene hands.

War has been declared. As enemies, who are also kinsmen, are filled with bloodlust, they know that many of them will die and that some will become heroes: heroes who will live forever in a story that will echo down the centuries.

I read the books many years ago and have now enjoyed the audio version.
Excellent narration with a good array of differing voices and accents for the characters.
This is a great retelling of a familiar tale with plenty of twists and an excellent climax to the 3 books.

as the inevitable end drew nearer I was torn between racing on and not wanting it to finish. I love the twists on well known and loved legends that David has created in this series. I have read the books many times but listening to them has brought an extra depth.

I thought it was a great way to end the trilogy how ever it seams to be leaving the door open for another set as there are some parts of the story that have no ending
