Summary

Darkness falls on the Great Green, and the Ancient World is fiercely divided. On the killing fields outside the golden city of Troy, forces loyal to the Mykene King mass. Among them is Odysseus, fabled storyteller and reluctant ally to the Mykene, who knows that he must soon face his former friends in deadly combat.

Within the city, the Trojan king waits. Ailing and bitter, his hope is pinned on two heroes: his favourite son, Hektor, and the dread Helikaon, who will wreak terrible vengeance for the death of his wife at Mykene hands.

War has been declared. As enemies, who are also kinsmen, are filled with bloodlust, they know that many of them will die and that some will become heroes: heroes who will live forever in a story that will echo down the centuries.
loved it

great story
I thought it was a great way to end the trilogy how ever it seams to be leaving the door open for another set as there are some parts of the story that have no ending

This was a let down.

I had read the original book when it was released. I loved the first two, the characters were deep and human. The story was complex and tragic, but this book was one dimensional and predictable. I believe with Mr. Gemmells death and the subsequent assistance of his wife and editor this story becomes a paint by the numbers sword and sorcery novel. This is a great shame because of how great the first two parts of the story were.

Love it!

storyline is fast paced and addictive (Even if it is quite corny in some sections).

The narrator does a fantastic job and the series wraps up quite well.

Amazing take on the fall of troy!

I was blown away by the imagery and storyline that David Gemmell created. The twists, triumphs, and heart-wrenching moments were more than enough to make you feel like you were fighting the legendary Achilles yourself.
