There is still a sense of "I am the doer" or free will which goes against zen or other Buddhist traditions.
Regarding all the author's comments on the pandemic, I think that was really when people should have been "f**k it" practitioners by quickly realising the whole thing was over exaggerated from lockdowns to the ineffective vaccination campaign. F**k it to TV and to the news fear mongering would be the advice I would add in this book really.
I think the "f**k it" attitude the author describes naturally comes with age and with years of disappointment and disillusionment. You naturally learn to spot BS and say "f**k it" when needed.
The book might be handy for some though.
Good parts but still entertain our sense of being separate individuals
