Summary

The Harriken have decided James Brownstone needs to die. So they put out a hit on him valued at $500,000.

Shay is working her way back to California from a raid on artifacts in Asia, but she could be too late to help. With all of Los Angeles and Southern California's hitmen trying to take out Brownstone, even the cops are sitting this one out.

Until they don't.

Magical criminals, thugs, and bounty hunters - it is a cage match that LA isn't large enough to contain when Brownstone goes hard. If you decide to hunt James Brownstone, we suggest you purchase life insurance. It will provide those who live beyond your shorter-expected-lifespan the money for a nice casket.

Brownstone likes his life simple, but when people hunt him, he is willing to call in a few favors.

Kick back for a fun, action-packed adventure that will have you yelling for the good guys and laughing at just how much Brownstone can infuriate Shay. Even if she might not get near him. (And how thoroughly Shay mystifies Brownstone by requesting waiters with white towels over their arms.)

Note: This book contains cursing. Perhaps humorous cursing, but cursing, nevertheless. If this offends you, I don't suggest listening to this book.

Great job

Have bought every audio book so far. Can't wait to listen to the next installment. Us he from the otherworld or not? Does Allison come into her powers? I said I couldn't wait so I am finishing this review to listen to Brownstone right now!

SMOKIN' Good, satisfying story w oak&apple finish.

absolutely loved the author notes at the end. Michael, its inspired & it was the perfect finish. the growth in the richness of character interaction and how you shape & expands the main characters has just gotten better all along this process. I'm working my way through Tkg universe and it's great place to be

Bwaaaaaaaaaaaaaahahahahahahaha

The story itself, as always, was awesome. Having Brownstone talking about Bbq in the Auther notes? Pure genius. Great snark.

wonderful series

great series, love the MC. really am enjoying how late is making him change. and have enjoyed the "suffering" that he is causing Shay. love the OP of the MC. just all around great story. the voice acting is top notch and Tim has a wide range of voices, he does emotion so well. no body else could voice the gravel in Bownstone voice and get away with it.

Awesomeness!

I absolutely loved the story. Action-packed would be a serious understatement. Add in smooth multi-faceted story development along with the authors character development, we have another winner from Michael Anderle. Note to the author...when you had the men in Gilleys stand up, I was literally shouting ooh-rah. And, yes, I did appreciate the BarBQ tips in the author notes. No more time to write. I have "Bring the Pain" waiting for me.

Another Great Audio

I have really enjoyed listening to this audio version of this story, Kate Rudd does a lovely job of bringing the characters to life. I find that Lieutenant of the police Hill I think to be rather annoying and think she needs an enema without the lube lol

on Brownstone’s trail

Brownstone’s house, autographed BBQ cookbooks, and BBQ supplies get blown up. His truck is damaged and has to be rebuilt and repaired. He’s Really not happy. The Harriken made the mistake of putting out a contract on Brownstone for $500k. The ensuing adventures are well done. Great for those who enjoy a serial adventure. Rudd does a great job with narration.
