Summary

The countdown timer continues to tick, but Earth is still not ready to repel an invasion from space.

Gnat is on his voyage with the Shiamiru, all the while trying to find backup for humanity among the great spacefaring races. After all, based on what he's already seen, he knows not to count on the good sense of his own kind. Even facing an external threat, the people of our Earth cannot see past their internal squabbles and come together to fight as one.

Gnat does not expect gratitude from his leaders for taking such matters into his own hands, but when have laws and rules ever stopped our intrepid hero before?

Love the series hate the narrator

Again the author nails it in this continuation of countdown. I am totally invested in the story but beg the people in charge to hand the narrator role off to someone else. This guy has like four voices for all the characters. No accents and half the characters sound like they are talking through a voice box I mean come on. Stop giving this guy five stars people what are your standards? Luke Daniels and Nick Podel are two of my favorites I can think of. Listen to them and then listen to this. There is no contest.

good audiobook

Good translation. Good narration. Only remark is that the female voices could use some more softening. If you liked the first you will like this one.

The performance is better than the first one but..

The narrator’s performance is better than the first one but still needs a lot of practice. His voices are confusing and not congruent with the character description. Gird Tamara sounds like a southern US female rather than a tough, Russian teen that has overcome a tough past. It is better than the first book of the series. He sounds like he is reading rather than just performing the piece. The cadence of his pronunciation of syllables needs work to remove the sound of just reading rather than letting the performance happen to create a better picture in the mind. I like the story enough to ignore the deficiencies of the narrator to also purchase the third book.

The voices

The harsh voices the narrator uses got on my nerves pretty quickly. The centaurs where the worst.

Do you like high stakes alien casino gambling?

If you do this book is worth the credit. Casinos don't interest you then the book has elements of political thrillers, military tactics or strong rpg elements I believe you'll enjoy the book. This is a really good follow up to the first book. It keeps the momentum from the first book and develops the story further. If I had to make a complaint is that the book assumes you just listened to Book 1 and it was a bit of a struggle to remember all the previous elements of book 1. It feels more like the middle of an extremely long book rather than a standalone. That being said this book is 5 stars and looking forward to the next one.

{Spoilers}-The Next Book will be a must.

Well I'm not to good at these reviews. the best I can do is spoil this book. Net Meets many new races and classes.
The Most Notable is the 4th Mother of a race, Notability She give him a blessing, that will follow in the next book is my guess.
Next is a thought to be died race of metamorphosing to almost any one or animal the game could allow.
My thoughts on this race/person may bring Net greater trouble in the next book as well.
At the end Net is faces with a counter to a new class only known to a great passed away race, and a Dark Princess Ward and a trip to war in space, and leaving a possible war with the dark faction.
