About this listen

From USA Today best-selling author Nikki Ash comes a small town romance about finding love when you least expect it....

Kinsley:

Exposed Ink is my sanctuary, where I can hide behind the needles and ink, shielding my shattered heart from further pain and loss.

Until Shane, a firefighter and single dad, threatens to unravel the carefully constructed walls I’ve built to survive.

First, he saves my life—literally—and then he turns it upside down by making me long for things I can’t have.

He says he wants to get some ink done, but I know he wants something more… something I can’t give him—me.

Shane:

As a firefighter medic, I’m used to fixing physical wounds, but Kinsley’s scars run deeper.

To some, her brokenness might be perceived as a weakness, but I can see the strength buried deep.

With each passing day—and mark to my skin—I find myself falling harder for the striking beauty with the sad eyes.

She’s quickly tattooed herself on my heart, and I’m determined to be the one who shows her that love can heal even the deepest wounds.

Exposed Ink is an emotional, sweet and engaging story about love, loss and second chances. Kinsley is a tattoo artist who has endured the most difficult loss imaginable and she is doing what she can to get through each day. She meets Shane one night in a highly unconventional way and despite the circumstances, there is just something about Kinsley that Shane is drawn to. While Kinsley is not really having it and pushes Shane away on the regular, he keeps at it, and in no time both Shane and his daughter Taylor have won her over.

Shane has got to be the most swoon-worthy hero of all time. I mean a single dad who adores his daughter and has raised her basically alone and did an amazing job at it....sign me up. But, couple that with his patience, charm, persistence, dedication and sexiness and he is the total package. I absolutely adored Taylor. She had the biggest personality and was so sweet and down to earth and I love, love, loved that she was so into romance books. One of my favorite parts of the book was watching her relationship with Kinsley grow. It was just so natural.

What can I say about Kinsley? My heart broke for her throughout the course of the story, but I admired her strength and courage and was so happy that she allowed herself to find love again. I think she, Shane and Taylor were the perfect family.

I didn't love the drama that unfolded in the last quarter of the book, but I did appreciate that the author didn't drag it on too long and that Shane nipped it right in the bud. On the whole, I feel like I could have done without that whole part of the story line, but it did not take away from how much I needed to see these characters get their HEA.

The narration of this book was truly fantastic. With such an emotional story line, Lexi Evans and Theo Sinclair did such an amazing job bringing these characters and all the emotions to life. I did not want to stop listening or for the book to end. I highly, highly recommend this read/listen. TheFlockVIPReviewTeam PinkFlamingoProductions

This was such an emotional and powerful story.
Kinsley is such a strong woman, she has suffered through great heartache, she is still struggling in some ways, but she is still living.
She is such a beautiful soul, sweet, caring, kind, & talented.
Shane is an absolute gem, he is so patient, kind, caring and understanding. He never pushes Kinsley or makes her feel bad for how she feels or reacts.
I absolutely love the understanding, love, & healing that happens for both of them. This was a beautiful story that made me cry and made my heart swoon.

There is just something about Nikki Ash's writing style that I just love. I can't put her books down once I start listening! This one is just so good, it's sticking with me. Not a book hangover, just a feel good feeling. Kinsley has lived through tragedy, never looking for another relationship. When she has an allergic reaction, Shane the paramedic is sent and the story begins. Shane is a single dad of a teen, and when he sees Kinsley for the first time in her allergy ridden, hard to breath state, he knows. He knows he has to get to know her better. Friends first. Take it slow. But as time goes on, Kinsley falls not only for Shane but loves his daughter too. Is she ready for that? Shane is perfect, a wonderful father, attentive boyfriend and lover, but Kinsley just doesn't trust life. I as right there with both of them on this journey. Horrified by what Kinsley has to live with, I could understand her hesitancy. Life is over in an instant. But Shane shows her the opposite. Take life by the horns and live. I loved this story. It's premise is sad, but leads to all the feels and happiness. Another winner!

Lexi Evans and Theo Sinclair had to be the voices in Ash's head as she wrote this gem, as their portrayal fit the characters perfectly. Evans has an easy way with her conversational feel. All the emotions come through with such ease that I felt it all with Kinsley. Sinclair knows how to use the warmth in his voice to create a fabulous boyfriend. He narrowed in on each feeling, pulled it out and made it feel real. Love these two together and enjoyed this listen.

All the feels!

Nikki Ash has outdone herself with this amazing romance novel, a beautiful story that captivates your attention and tugs at your heartstrings like no other. Kinsley suffered a loss that she can not get past and, despite it being three years later, her nightmares are fresh reminders of her loss, the pain and what it cost her. She funnels all her energy into Exposed Ink, her business and her job, a tattoo artist. While out with her friend who convinced her to go, she drinks the wrong drink and had an allergic reaction. With no EpiPen on hand, they called for an ambulance and Shane was one of the firefighter medics who treated her. Shane felt an instant attraction to Kinsley, but she, as she does with any guy, tells him she was not available, except her friend tells him otherwise. She is just not available mentally, not interested in dating or any romantic relationship and not deserving, or so she thinks. Shane senses her brokenness and is not about to give up on her, and he had an important person in her life give him some encouraging words, her father. Shane is a fabulous caring human, who was just what Kinsley needed in her life. He is a single father of an amazing teenage daughter, Taylor, who also clicked with Kinsley, and while Taylor did not know it, she also played a part in helping Kinsley heal and get past her inner demons. I loved all the layers of this story and how it all played out, with the perfect balance of drama, angst, some heartrending moments, heartwarming moments, heartfelt emotions and a slow burn, but so worth the wait romance. As always, the writing, plot and world building are incredible, as are the character growth and development. Nikki Ash, thank you for another amazing story and emotional rollercoaster ride.

🎧📚🎧 Lexi Evans and Theo Sinclair were the perfect cast to bring these characters to life, humanizing them and giving each a voice that was fitting and believable. Bother were naturals in their roles, each delivering a spot on portrayal of the characters with Evans aced it as Kinsley, grasping every aspect of her personality, her sorrow, insecurities to her strength and determination, her take on Taylor was fantastic too, with her enthusiastic, sunny and positive demeanor. Sinclair did the same in Shane’s role and was just as amazing as Shane, showcasing all aspects of his personality as well. Setting the right tone for the story, they captured all the characters’ emotions and had you feeling every single one. These two made a great team, with voices and talent that complemented each other and a captivating performance that keeps you glued to the story. They are entertaining storytellers and a pleasure to listen to.
