Summary

Early one morning a foreman shows up at the building site of a mega-mansion. Proceeding up unfinished plank steps, he arrives at the master bedroom. There, lying on a blanket, are a man and a woman, stabbed and bludgeoned to death. Who are the lovers? Why have they chosen a construction site for their late-night tryst? Is the double murder simply a horrific example of wrong-place, wrong-time? Or were the victims stalked? And will the outrage be repeated? Alex and Milo are called in and as they struggle to make their way through the alternative universe that is the domain of the impossibly rich, they discover a scheme rooted in deception and evil beyond even their imaginations.

Always great

I'm always impressed by Jonathan Kellerman'a ability to bring characters to life in a concise humorous way. Milo is a great larger than life cop
Jeff Harding is brilliant as usual. I love the way he does female voices, they always sound real and with character not something all male narrators can do

The early series is better.

These latest Alex Delaware books are no match for the earlier ones. I find these new ones have over-complicated plots & aren't gripping as it's hard to follow.

Good not great

Enjoyable in the main but confusing in places, for me the basic story line was complicated far too much. The redeeming feature was yet another excellent performance by Jeff Harding.
