Summary

Penguin presents the unabridged downloadable audiobook edition of Everything but the Truth by Gillian McAllister, read by Colleen Prendergast.

It all started with the email.

Rachel didn't even mean to look. She loves Jack, and she's pregnant with their child. She trusts him.

But now she's seen it, she can't undo that moment. Or the chain of events it has set in motion.

Why has Jack been lying about his past? Just what exactly is he hiding? And doesn't Rachel have a right to know the truth at any cost?

Absolutely loved this book

I couldn't stop listening to this story.... it held me right from the start. The narration was excellent. In the beginning, Jack reminded me of someone I once knew.... i think this is why I just had to keep reading right to the end...hoping that I was wrong. A big fat 5 star review from me.

Gripping story and excellent narration

If you could sum up Everything but the Truth in three words, what would they be?

Gripping psychological story

What was one of the most memorable moments of Everything but the Truth?

I loved the gradual discovery and the unfolding of the story and don't want to reveal my favourite moment as it may spoil the story for others.

What does Colleen Prendergast bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

Colleen brought the story to life and I felt engaged with the characters. I have listened to other books read by her and theyhave all been enjoyable

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Bit tearful at times

Any additional comments?

I would recommend this story and I feel sad that it is over and I am missing the characters. I binge listened to it over a week as I was so engrossed

A Love story entered on a Moral Dilemma

I can't really criticise this book but it did not really stand out for me. It is essentially a love story with trust and honesty at its centre and I found it quiet slow paced. Rachel was an annoying character and I sympathised with Jack and his dilemma. I was hoping for some sort of interesting twist at the end but was disappointed. I also found Rachel's pregnancy to be irritating and her constant references to it. I did however enjoy the narration and felt it was well paced and enjoyed the regional accents that were just right and never over the top.

Promising Start...

I was hooked fairly quickly, but the storyline didn't play out as thrillingly as I would have liked.

Very good narration by Colleen Prendergast.

I don't care what the truth is

I can't finish this drawn out tedious 'story'. It has so much verbiage which detracts from the narration. Geordie accent irritating

Dull and pointless

It’s impossible to like the main character, she’s so incredibly stupid and holier than thou. Her problems aren’t entirely made up and are not that problematic. There’s no real mystery and when you find out what it is it’s been drawn out for so long that you’ve stopped caring at all. Besides, you’ve probably worked it out in the diets 5 minutes but keep on going in then hope that it’s not actually as stupid as you think. Spoiler alert: it’s exactly that stupid. Avoid like the plague. Pointless. The only good thing about this book is the narrator who is great.

Engaging tale with great narration.

This novel has a slow start, but once it gets going, it draws the listener in. The characters are well drawn, and their respective dilemmas, original.

So disappointed

Found this so slow. Rachel was so unlikeable. Her endless medical boasts, and her self righteous attitude. The plot was really disappointing. Depressing and not worth my time.

I did enjoy it

But a week later I cannot recall a thing to say about it but that’s me not the book!
