About this listen

Conflict is going to be part of your life--as long as you have relationships, hold down a job, or have dry cleaning to be picked up. Bracing yourself against it won't make it go away, but if you approach it consciously, you can navigate it in a way that not only honors everyone involved but makes it a source of deep insight as well. Seasoned mediator Diane Hamilton provides the skill set you need to engage conflict with wisdom and compassion, and even--sometimes--to be grateful for it. She teaches how to:

  • Cultivate the mirror-like quality of attention as your base
  • Identify the three personal conflict styles and determine which one you fall into
  • Recognize the three fundamental perspectives in any conflict situation and learn to inhabit each of them
  • Turn conflicts in families, at work, and in every kind of interpersonal relationship into win-win situations
  • Buddhism Communication & Social Skills Personal Development Personal Success Psychology Psychology & Mental Health Relationships Meditation Inspiring

This book was a beautiful presentation of how universal principles of of yin and yang or Zen come together as we communicate, build connections and reconcile or resolve problems of any kind, opening our eyes to see into ourselves while taking neutral witnessing positions to see beyond our own limited minds and collective wounding of all of us and still teaching compassionate relationship within self as the other. Practical awareness for all, thank you Diane. I also appreciated you reading the book yourself, it always adds value to hear the voicing of the author.

I was delighted that Diane read this herself. While her delivery is laid back almost to a fault, it carries the weight of her experience and a deeply reassuring presence. There are nuggets of immediately impact information and the whole work has a depth that will reward repeated listening. The real gold is likely to be in engagement with the suggested practises, that are thoughtful and well outlined.

I listened through this book in just a couple of sittings and I will be returning to it frequently.

    Well worth repeated listening
