Summary

"You shall be holy," teaches the Bible. The masters of the Jewish Mussar tradition have crafted a roadmap to help people approach that lofty goal. Mussar is a system of introspective practices that can help you identify and break through the obstacles to your inherent holiness, using methods that are easy to integrate into daily life. Every Day, Holy Day is an essential companion for anyone who wants to experience the life-changing gifts of Mussar. The program laid out in this audiobook focuses on 26 traits (middot) - such as loving-kindness, strength, generosity, compassion, honor, and equanimity - each of which takes center stage for a week of contemplation and exercises, in order to develop and refine that quality in yourself. Alan Morinis invites you to follow the Mussar path with him for a year. It is remarkably simple, and also remarkably effective in helping you overcome negative tendencies and strengthen positive ones - and to reveal your innate holiness in the process.

Least Expensive yet MOST Impactful Book Ever

I'm Jewish, yet didn't know anything about Mussar. That said, how fortunate was I to stumble across it. ANYONE can apply the wisdom in this book. PLEASE do yourself a favor & not only get it but listen over & over. Once you begin the apply the principles your life will change. Forget all the self-help garbage out there. This is the real-deal.

Written version better

This book does not work well being narrated; at least by this narrator. The narrator should’ve announced “week 1, day 1”, and paused before beginning the next day. He just keeps reading, so it’s impossible to know where to stop. I had to go on Amazon and look at the sample of the book to see the format, so I kind of have an idea of when to stop it. Each days reading is very short.

Good - but get the book also

The price to purchase this audiobook is very low, so you've really got nothing to lose even though the format of the book is more geared to the physical book, which has sections where you can write the observations as you go through the exercises each day. The author was excellent, as was the narrator - but I suggest also getting the physical book.

Good content – lousy narrator

I like Jonathan Davis' (the narrator) voice. Problem is, he doesn't separate each day by saying f.e. "Monday: ..." and "Tuesday..." or "Day 14..." and "Day 15..."

Since this is a book intended to be read and practiced, bit by bit, day by day, it is dreadful to listen to. The narrator seems to be reading the same stuff over and over, because the weekly quote is repeated for each day, same is the title, and so on. And it's just impossible to pause the audio at the right spot for you to continue again tomorrow. And if you rewind f.e. 20 seconds, you'll be in doubt as to which day you're listening to.

Long story short: I'd rather get the printed version.
