About this listen

It sounds like a thief's dream to Van Shaw: a terminally ill ex-con tells him of a fortune in gold, abandoned after the original owner died in prison. To rebuild his destroyed house and to help the dying man leave a legacy for his daughter, Van agrees to the job. But the safe holding the fortune is a trap set by a mysterious player. Soon, Van's partner is abducted, and he must figure out who the hunters are really after, whilst being hunted himself.

A good listen. Van is slowly turning into my favourite character, behind Charlie Parker.
I could listen to anything that Jeff Harding reads. my only gripe is that there are too many characters to keep track of.

I liked it

Whilst difficult at times to remember who is who, really enjoyed. lots of interesting situations and characters to engage with.

Jeff Harding's barration is exceptional.

Great story, and very well narrated.

I've read previous Glen Erik Hamiltons Van Shaw books and thoroughly enjoyed them until this one. I got two thirds through the book and gave up. The toing and froing between years and the number of characters involved completely confused me. I will give his next book a try and if similar then I will find another author.

Mind Blowing

The ONLY redeeming feature if this book is the narrator is good. Nevertheless even he couldn't lift a mediocre (at best) tale that wandered about and was completely unsatisfying to listen to. I didn't listen to it all because I just couldn't bring myself to inflict any more on myself.

Disappointing
