Summary

A young woman seeking answers to her heart’s deepest questions. A young man longing for a long-lost love. A man and woman separated by lies and long years. With hallmark tenderness and power, New York Times best-selling author Karen Kingsbury weaves a tapestry of lives, loss, love, and faith - and the miracle of resurrection.

Shane Galanter is a man ready to put down roots after years of searching. But is he making the right choice? Or is there a woman somewhere who even now remembers - as does he - those long-ago days...and a love that hasn’t faded with time?

Lauren Gibbs is a successful international war correspondent who gave up on happily-ever-after years ago - when it was ripped away from her. Since then, she’s never looked back. So why can’t she put to rest the one question that haunts her: Why is life so empty?

Emily Anderson is a college freshman raised by her grandparents and about to take her first internship as a journalist. But before she can move ahead, she discovers a love story with a tragic ending that came accompanied her birth. As a result, she is compelled to look back and search out the mother she’s never met.

Sometimes hope for the future is found in the ashes of yesterday.

Wonderful story

Great storyline, good buildup to the characters W their interaction. The story holds your interest as it weaves the different generations together and tells their individual stories. Highly recommend, really couldn’t fault it.

I felt it could have been improved by the narration. Especially in the first third the babyish intonations were irritating.

Beautifully crafted

A story that will make you cry and really think. I will save this for anyone I know with a teenagers in the home, or a teen themselves. Great thoughts on war and peace, friendship and true love.

As usual, I'm glad I read (ear-read) it.

Enjoyed the journey. A good illustration of how we have something so good I front of us but keep letting our own understanding muddy the waters. I find myself growing frustrated with the decisions of characters and then I realize a I'm doing something similar just a different topic.
I've grown fond kid other narrators so I've become biased.

great book!

I loved the book and got sucked in like I do with all if Karen's books. I don't like how the narrator made Emily and younger Lauren sound like little kids. but overall, it was good.

Made for an enjoyable easy listen

Overall a good story, though somewhat adolescent, it made for a good listen to pass the time.
