About this listen
Feeling lost — like you don’t belong? Searching for adventure, purpose, family?
Escape from Spaceport Alpha is the story you’ve been waiting for: a high-stakes, heart-pounding journey through the stars alongside misfits and dreamers—all searching for their place in the universe.
Navinder Takhari was just a boy when he was orphaned by the destruction of Earth. Haunted by loss, searching for meaning in the endless dark of space, Navi now drifts from one dead-end job to the next. But when he and his loyal, damaged crew crash-land on Janiko, they stumble upon a sinister government plot that changes their course forever.
A must-listen for maturing Marvel fans (Guardians of the Galaxy), Star Wars, Ender's Game, Maze Runner, Hitchikers Guide to the Galaxy and Ready Player One. If you’re ready to lose yourself in a galaxy of danger, found family, daring escapes, and unexpected hope… it’s time to board the Starship Ambassador. Welcome to Takhari.
Escape from Spaceport Alpha is the first instalment in the Takhari series, by breakthrough science fiction author, Michael D. Frost. Targeted at teen / YA audiences, this dystopian space opera is rooted in found-family values—with a few bar fights, big laughs and high-speed chases along the way.

If you like science fiction that is full of action and based on strong characters, this has it all! Although I feel this is more suitable for a YA audience, I did enjoy it as well as a lighter reading.
I listened to the audiobook, very well narrated by Jay Forrester, providing the listener with different accents and tones, helping the reader with all the various characters.
What stood out for me was the humour and the well balanced action and banter throughout, as well as the diverse array of characters. I felt a lot of influence from Star Wars, and especially the very first ones, which is good as I love the original Lucas’ ones.
If you like a short read/listen of soft sci-fi with plenty of action and fun, this first book in the series might be the one you’re looking for.
Thanks to the author and Zooloo’s Book Tours for the opportunity to listen to it and this is my honest opinion.
A great start to the series!

The relationships between the characters are solid and believable, their motivations make sense and the plot is driven forward by believable devices - an important thing in sci-fi. I particularly liked the relationship between Takhari and the droid 'Ozzy'.
A rip-roaring space opera!
