About this listen

The flames of civil war sweep across the Shima Imperium. Blood turns against blood as the Dragon and Fox clans compete for the empty throne. The traitor Kin walks the halls of Guild power, his destiny only a bloody knife stroke away. And as the earth splits asunder, as armies destroy each other for rule over an empire of lifeless ash and the final secret about blood lotus is revealed, the people of Shima will learn one last horrifying truth.

Critic reviews

"[A] fast-paced, fantastical adventure [that] is sharp as a Shogun's sword." ( L.A. TIMES)
"With airships, demons, and lashings of revolutionary swordplay, this chi-fuelled vision of a steampunk feudal Japan will blow your split-toed socks off." (Scott Westerfeld)

Love the authors other books but seriously this is such a pile of soppy rubbish its actually appalling . I mean the basis of the story is a good premiss but the gallons of emotional rubbish is absolutely so far over the top I was left wondering If the author was being financed by Mills and Boon and Jackie collins . 10% good story line 90 % romantic tripe . Give it a miss life is too short to listen to this complete drudgery . Cant believe this is the same author of such great books . Will not even bother wasting money on rest of it . Waited through 3 books for it to actually become good as I like the author but my god man what possessed you .

I really enjoyed this trilogy. It’s a great story. I am currently making my way through all of Jay Kristoff’s books. He is clearly a master storyteller.

Such a great story and fantastic narrator - really enjoyably but I love everything that Jay Kristoff writes so maybe I’m biased.
