Summary
The explosive new book from longtime royal journalist Omid Scobie and author of the international blockbuster Finding Freedom, Endgame a penetrating investigation into the current state of the British monarchy.
An unpopular king, a power-hungry heir to the throne, a queen willing to go to great lengths to preserve her image, and a prince forced to start a new life after being betrayed by his own family.
Queen Elizabeth II’s death ruptured the already-fractured foundations of the House of Windsor – and dismantled the protective shield around it. With an institution long plagued by incidents involving antiquated ideas around race, class and money, the monarchy and those who prop it up are now exposed and at odds with a rapidly modernizing world.
Relying on his vast experience as a royal reporter and over a decade of conversations and interviews with current and former Palace staff, trusted friends of the royals and even the family members themselves, Scobie pulls back the curtain on an institution in turmoil to show what the monarchy must change in order to survive.
This is the monarchy’s endgame. Do they have what it takes to save it?

A royal book without the fluff
A book for royalists and non royalists not your usual sycophantic royal books Omid Scobie pulls the curtains back and gives us a look at the unhealthy relationship between the royals and the British media the invisible contract' as it’s known. This book gives you a real insight into the people behind the royals the men in grey as Diana refer to them and it leaves a sour taste and its obvious who’s running this institution and it’s not the organ grinder. An informative read, read superbly by the author.

Insightful and engaging
This book is very insightful to the inner workings of the firm and the British press. It is very refreshing to get commentry that is fair and balanced and not wildly biased, as some I have seen on the royal family in more recent years!

Very well-researched and trenchant, but misses the point!
The Royal Family clearly need to clean up their act, and the grifting and politics are distressing - especially when it comes to the mental health of young women in their power. That said, the idea that elected officials will do better is laughable. Well-researched, informative and fascinating, this book should make people think clearly about what the monarchy does for the country… and how they might do it better.

Endgame by Omid Scobie
The methodical analysis of each chapter theme/topic/character was very well researched and well out together. It was very easy to listen to and the arguments put forward were well supported regardless of whether the reader/listener is of the same opinion as the author or not.

Brilliant
Excellent read. This is not like any of the other sycophantic British royal books, largely written by royal Rota members. Endgame opens up about the hidden truths of the institution but remains balanced at the same time.
Whether you're a royalist, republican or somewhere in between, you'll most likely enjoy this well written and narrated book.

One sided
Biased towards the Sussex team , would have preferred more balance. Very one sided in the view point .

Twenny
I enjoyed this book. My only complaint was in the reading of it. Dates were read out a lot and by the end of the book every time a year was quoted......
Twenny Twenny, Twenny Twenny one, Twenny Twenny two, it was so irritating. It's Twen'T'y!
If you're going to read a book it should be spoken correctly.

Very well written book
This is very well written by Omid. Fair and balanced view which gives a good insight into the manner in which the royal family actually behave versus the image they want us to believe.
