Light on tips - heavy on importance of EI

I don't know about you but if I've spent my hard-earned money on an audible book about emotional intelligence I already REALIZE EI's value and obviously," I wanna get me more uh dat!" . I PURCHASED THE BOOK SO YOU COULD TEACH ME HOW TO IMPROVE MY EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE (NOT TO HEAR YOU recommend I buy some other dude's book*&__#?

This isn't a class project here, you represent yourself as a SME when you write a book on Emotional Intelligence, but this more of an EI promo commercial.

I
didn't know this was self published, until the author mentioned it - then the pieces started to fall in place! There are REASONS editors turn books down (and tell the author how to improve it if it is rescueable.

Author provides here a couple of tips on becoming emotionally intelligent -

* journal when you experience a significant emotion so you can write it down on a factual basis and analyze it (author implies the mere act of writing a factual account will in and of itself improve your emotional intelligence).

Ever had a blow-up with your sig. other? I don't know how emotionally distant you are, but if you had a fight that day I don't know how factual your account will be - you're not a bystander, dude, you're A participant so I don't see that working...

- become more empathetic, which will make you be a better listener.

Hmmm... Well, I I would be very curious from a scientific standpoint how just acting more empathetic makes you become TRULY empathetic... (psychopaths can PRETEND to be empathetic, but it never "takes" does it?

) it doesn't mean they are either your empathetic you're not you can fake it and I'm not sure if that's what this guy is recommending I don't know of any other way you could increase it you're either empathetic or not - increasing your empathy factor is a very weird suggestion IMHO.

You asked to post a review for your book, hope it helps, perhaps you could write a V 2. 0 (title suggestions - "How to become empathetic " or " Ten ways to Increase your Emotional Intelligence").

Hmmmm all but for the narrators voice!

I’m always hesitant to purchase books on audible (despite the convenience of it) because of the narrators voice. I often find that the tone of the voice really impacts how much I enjoy listening to the book. The narrator’s voice was so monotone and so in places where an inflection really would have punctuated the authors points - it didn’t!!

This said, I did pass it along to several other psychotherapists! For themselves and then to consider using as a resource for their patients.

Emotional Intelligence

Great book. This has really helped me and I will continue to use it as a reference. Similar to Strengths Finder by using an online test, with the book as mainly a reference to understand and improve results.
