So I'm a bit off a Sic-Fi fan, and love Dan Abnett work so I was never not going to like this. However I was just blown out of the water by this. It's at it's hart a story about gun toting jarheads on a colony planet, not then a new story, but Abnett weaves a clear plot to take the story into new territory, Big business, the press and the government or at lest how they interacted. My only slight grip, the narrator gets Abnetts name wrong.

first you get a background of this future that is drab and boring but exciting and new all at the same time. then there is a few plot points that will make you want more. couldn't stop this book great work.

Dan Abnett does an amazing job world-building while simultaneously writing a scifi drama set for n a future war zone. The story keeps you hooked from start to finish, with a payoff you won't expect. A real masterpiece that deserves a followup.

Brillant plot and masterful battle scene discriptions. Written like it is, all a matter of skill and luck to survive combat. Then just when you have given up on your quest you stumble upon it. But what is it ? I couldn't stop listerning to this story had to do it in two sessions. well done Dan Abnett ..... any chance we could get his Warcraft novels on Audible please
