Lobotomised Narration.

The guy narrating sounds like hes reading aloud from a report on his own frontal lobotomy.
Flat, dull and he kept messing up the pronouncearions.

Great stories, bad narrator.

Love Edgar Allan Poe's work, but with this narration I just can't listen to it. The pace is repetitive, and the voice is monotonous and lacking inflection. The writing is incredible, and in this particular version the beauty of it is wholly lost.

robotic reader ruins book

I was really looking forward to this but unfortunately due to the reader reading as though so he was an automaton it sounds as though every word has been cut and paste very disappointing and extremely annoying to ruin something as good as Poe.

Awful narration and extremely dull stories

Granted I didn't listen to many of the stories, but the ones I did were very dull.

The worst narrator of ALL TIME

The works of Edgar Allan Poe are, of course, beyond reproach so I won't bother to comment as far greater minds than mine have already said all that need be said. All I will say is that the narrator chosen for this particular endeavour is the single WORST narrator I have ever had to suffer. Boring and seemingly lacking ANY and ALL emotional intelligence. How, given the wealth of talent out there, did this absolute NO TALENT DROSS ever get a gig like this?! In fact, how did he EVER get any work AT ALL??!!

accompanying pdf solves all issues

I was very hesitant to buy this given the reviews claiming no table of contents, there definitely is one just as an accompanying pdf, beyond this, it's some of the best readings of Edgar Allan Poe's work and well worth a credit/a few bucks.

Why aren't the chapters Titled?

There is so many stories, but why aren't they titled so you can find them?

Excellent Collection and Masterful Performance

First off, this is a wonderful collection with pretty much everything that Poe has ever written in a single book. The downloadable table of contents comes in VERY handy… navigating without it would be a nightmare.

Now for the voice that brought life to this book... I simply loved Mr. Duquenoy’s voice. It was a pure delight to listen to and he delivered a truly heartfelt performance in this reading. He pauses at the right moments and puts emphasis on the right words when needed, without ever over doing it. You will not get tired of this man’s voice!

For any Poe fans I think this is a great addition to your library which you will revisit over and over…

Wonderful!

Poe has long been one of my all time favorite authors. Duquenoy's rendition is splendid.

You Should Know

Somewhere in the very beginning chapters, the entire book gets moved back two chapters. If you download the table of contents and illustrations that are associated with this particular book (available on the description page of the book) you actually can pick and choose what you're listening to. I think chapter three runs into chap four and five. Not exactly sure, but I can say that the very first story, after all the intros, starts on chapter 6. So the story The Unparalleled Adventures of One Hans Pfaal is Chapter 6. And the book continues to be off by two chapters. I think the narrator is great. I don't see what people are complaining about.

Excellent readings, wonderful voice, but...

This collection of Poe’s works is the best I have ever heard. The narrator has a rich, full voice. The dramatic presentation is excellent. Anyone wishing to immerse themselves in Poe’s stories will not be disappointed by this book.

However, and this is a complaint is leveled at ALL Audible books, the stories are labeled as “Chapter 1, Chapter 2, Chapter 3”, etc. If you wish to hear a particular story, poem, or other work you have to find some method of locating it, such as making your own list. For me, that takes away from the enjoyment of the book.

Again, the content of this book is excellent, and if you don’t have a problem with unlabeled content, this should not take away from your enjoyment of this book. Overall I recommend buying this book, because the narrator and the content make it worth the purchase price.

Things we didn't know

I like listening to this before I go to sleep. You'll never tire of this reading and there are many writings I never knew, I never heard anyone mention Poe was one of the first science fiction writers but that's probably why my dad was so fond of him. I am really enjoying it and love listening to these stories

Wrong narrator for subject

The narrator was very boring and had the wrong voice and tone for the subject. I couldn't listen to the whole thing.
