Millie Thatcher had been doing just fine for herself before a literal god took an interest in her.
As one of the last living Runeskalds, she'd been perfectly happy carving out a little life for herself by smacking ghosts upside the head. But then the big daddy of rune magic, Loki Laufeyjarson himself, decided she had potential. Suddenly, her chill life of kicking ghosts up the backside is changing into something more, something with actual stakes.
And that's hardly fair, is it?
Something has been munching on students at one of the country's elite private schools, and apparently this is now the sort of thing Millie is suited to deal with. Couple this with the unexpected arrival of a handsome German with all the skill and talent she never bothered to develop, and things are threatening to unfold into something altogether unexpected and, worst of all, motivating. Seems like it's finally time for Millie Thatcher to grow up.
The first big case for Millie Thatcher, EAT THE RICH is a fresh take on the Warlocks of Whitehall series, a world of magic and politics perfect for fans of Hellblazer, The Dresden Files, The Laundry, and other urban fantasy mainstays.

First off, the story itself is brilliant. Millie Thatcher is irreverent, clever and uses her tongue like a blunt instrument. There are so many little nods to various mythologies which is one of my favourite tropes in urban fantasy- this kind of convergence of the sum total of the human myth and divine. I love it.
Second, and I cannot stress this enough, Abby’s narration was so perfect it was like Millie was written for them to perform. Their characterisation did not slip. Not for an instant. And when you add in the sheer number of character voices they had to do? Just wow. This is a real masterclass in narration. Incredible work from both Peacock and Hopewell. I am anticipating a Millie series because I have NOT gotten enough.
PS: I am still in love with Wolfgang. Trust me, you’ll understand when you hear him.
