The narration is absolutely first-class. Seriously, the narrator does a fantastic job and elevates the whole experience.

The story itself, though, leaves me wanting more. Toroth-Gol Dungeon School has pretty much everything I enjoy about LitRPG: progression, skills, the world, the mechanics, and all the familiar ingredients that make the genre so much fun. But it feels like one crucial element is missing.

In series like He Who Fights with Monsters or Battle Mage Farmer, there’s always that satisfying sense that the protagonist is becoming ridiculously powerful in some way. You get those moments where all the progression finally pays off and you think, “Okay, THAT was awesome.”

Here, I keep waiting for that moment, and it never really comes.

It’s like listening to a great rock anthem that keeps building toward an amazing guitar solo… only for the solo to never happen. Or an electronic track with everything in place except for the beat that should finally make it hit.

All the ingredients are there, but there’s no real payoff. After two books, instead of keeping me excited about the progression, it’s starting to feel tiring.

Fantastic narration, great LitRPG framework, but I really wish the story would finally let its protagonist shine.

This is the second installment and we are finding out more of the dungeons secrets. King Crow is trying to find out more about why he's been betrayed and who he can trust, With his friends Spud, Perry, Zina and the rest of the squad he's at dungeon school looking for answers but trouble is always close! I really enjoyed the book and the narrator was brilliant. A fun book. Looking forward to the next one!
