Ursprünglich sollte auch die Schilderung des Tagesablaufes eines Anzeigenakquisiteurs namens Leopold Bloom eine dieser Skizzen aus dem Dubliner Leben werden. James Joyce entfaltet hier bereits den Kosmos, aus dem später Ulysses hervortritt.
