About this listen
He walked a tightrope five stories up just to hold my hand....
Gaze: I moved into the building next to Pixie when I was 11. She blew bubbles through my window. I shot my Nerf gun through hers. We both had secrets, but one of us was fated to get hurt. I wanted it to be me.
...She walked a tightrope five stories up just to save my life.
Pixie: When I was afraid of the dark, he would shine a light in my window. We shared our popsicles, and I taught him how to get a good swing on the playground. I never imagined I’d have to decide who got to live and who didn’t. I chose him, and he could never know.

This story is heart clenching. It broke my heart into pieces bit by bit, then put it back together before shattering again!💔💥 Thankfully, the author managed to pull all of the jagged pieces back into a whole again by the end!🙏🏼
The two narrators absolutely slayed their depictions of Gaze and Pixie. They took them from preteens into adulthood with such an emotive attention to detail. They were absolutely exceptional.⭐️👏
This book is a dark, triggering read. There is child abuse that's painful to read. You do not see it all on the page, especially Pixie's. However, its impact is still hard going.
This, ultimately, is a story of friendship and love. Of making decisions you should never have to make but knowing its the only choice you can make, no matter the consequences. It's hard, beautiful, and an unmissable read that will leave you full of hope!❤️🩹🙏🏼💘
