I knew very little about Sir Francis Drake and it was very interesting to learn about his life. As with all of Tony Riches novels, they are very well researched and written, and a joy to listen to. Francis Drake came from humble beginnings but he was soon noticed for his keen leadership skills and wise decision making from his very first voyage. After travelling around the world with his looting of foreign ships for gold, silver and treasure, he became a key figure in defending England against the Spanish during the Spanish Armada, and worked closely for the English Crown as a privateer during the reign of Elizabeth I 🔱🚢
