Summary
Uprostřed okázalé slavnosti na hradě Šternberku zmizí krásná paní Elška, manželka veverského purkrabího Drslava. Elška nemá zrovna pověst ctnostné manželky, takže celé události nepřikládá nikdo z hostů váhu. Jenže její manžel vyhledá Oldřicha z Chlumu a se slzami v očích ho prosí o pomoc. Domnívá se, že jeho žena byla unesena. Záhy poté je nalezen zavražděný trubadúr, který se Elšce předešlého večera dvořil.
