About this listen

The sequel to the hugely successful Bitterwood. A unique setting, a blend of Anne McCafrey and Gene Wolfe. A rich fantasy to appeal directly to all fans of dragon books, including Pern and Dragonlance.

After the death of King Albekizan, Shandrazel and his allies struggle to keep the kingdom intact as the radical human prophet Ragnar gathers forces to launch a full-scale rebellion against the dragons. When all-out war erupts, legendary dragon hunter Bitterwood must face his own personal demons and choose where his loyalty really lies.

Having not read the first books, I feel at a loss, but this didn't stop me enjoying this epic romp. We humans the pets and slaves of Dragons, The story was superbly Narrated and flowed with pace and direction keeping me going whilst on my many walks and whilst I carve, Enjoyed it fully.

Give them Dragons some of "that"

Sadly, like the second book, this is kind of ruined by the awful narrator. His attempts at sound effects and alternative accents provoke deep secondhand embarrassment. Otherwise, the storyline continues very well, several plot lines are brought to a quite epic and pleasing conclusion, pacing is perfect and the full storyline is finally revealed. This one is told more from the perspective of the humans than the dragons.

would love to see a new story told in this world next, perhaps exploring the larger world beyond Albekizan's kingdom, lots of scope here for more dragons :)

Great story, poor narration :-(
