Summary

My name is Thea, and I’m a monster hunter. Or a monster, depending on who you ask....

My dad trained me to be tough and ruthless, so I could replace him someday as head of our shifter clan. Then I discovered my father wasn’t the man I thought he was. So I went freelance instead. Now, I fight for the underdogs my dad used to exploit. Sure, I get paid. But I don’t do it for the money....

So when a rogue werewolf I’m hunting turns out to be innocent, I want to know who framed him, and why. His name is Marcus, and with his broad shoulders and piercing eyes, he can certainly take care of himself. But someone wants him dead. And I want to keep him alive…. At least long enough for me to figure out what he’s hiding.

Because Marcus is more than just your average shifter. He’s something much stranger, and much more dangerous. An ancient secret lurks behind his fierce, smoldering gaze.

And once it’s revealed, it could tear this world apart….

A great start

Okay, so there's a lot going on here.
There female MC has a complicated backstory and has cut ties with her family, there has been huge war between the races, and the male MC has a complex backstory and shouldn't even be alive...
There is a lot of loose ties and a lot of potential plots - a great first book in this series.

Great Twists

I really enjoyed listening to Dragon Heir. Just the title and series title was enough to interest me in the series. I'm so glad I decided to listen and can't wait to listen to the next in the series. I really enjoyed getting to know Thea, Marcus and the secondary characters in the story. The tension was tight, and nothing was a foregone conclusion. Wonderful narration.

Quirky easy listen

Good narration interesting story. Quirky and easy listen. Fun and interesting characters. Nice tough female mc who kicks lots of butts. Few extra laughs at the authors phrasing in some parts.

good starter of series

i like this start of a series. The characters are likeable, and you get quickly into the story. Lots of threads left hanging though, which is understandable for a part of a series, but will need to be tightly wound together to avoid loose threads. Definitely a series worth listening!

I like the plot

I like the plot, the protagonist looks at others without prejudice.
I don't understand exactly what type of shapeshifter the protagonist is. She's an "Arcanskin", but the term is never truly explained.
The book is about different groups of shapeshifters, their thinking and their priorities. And then there's Thea who crosses everyone.
Compared to other stories this one is more about the battles that matter, that are worth fighting.
The narrator is mostly invested in the characters and expresses emotions quite well.

Fascinating beginning to a great series!

Dragon be their is a fantastic listen and I loved the narrator she did a great job bringing the characters to life! I have to confess I started with book 2 in the series so I had to backtrack for this one and it was well worth it. Although book 2 worked fine for me as a standalone I truly enjoyed learning about The Dragon and how Thea and ge worked through trust issues to become great team and good friends. I was holy to get sone insight on Thea’s complex family dynamics and am pleased she is opening up to her brother who definitely needs her influence in his life. So many great nuggets to enrich the series story arc. I really dislike Thea’s father and hope there a some redemption qualities in future books. However, unlikely that island would actually be fine to see him as a big baddie later on down the line. Thea can definitely out it and outshine him if the time comes to put Mr. Grove in his place once and for all. Definitely a must read and I highly recommend it!
