About this listen

When Jonathan Harker visits Transylvania to help Count Dracula with the purchase of a house in London, he soon discovers some strange and shocking things about his new client. And then some strange things start happening back in England: an apparently unmanned ship is wrecked off the coast of Whitby, a young woman discovers strange puncture marks on her neck and the inmate of a lunatic asylum raves about the 'Master' and his imminent arrival.

First published in 1897, Dracula is an epistolary novel, meaning that the narrative is related through letters, diary entries and newspaper articles. The story is brought to life in this Audible production by a group of actors that you might recognise from TV and film: Himesh Patel (Yesterday), Patricia Allison (Sex Education), Daisy Edgar-Jones (Normal People), Theo James (Divergent series) and Jason Watkins (The Crown).

I read the reviews which were what made me want to read the story. I know the story, I’ve seen so many films, but this was in another league.
It was a fantastic story for listening to from start to finish; atmospheric, chilling, so beautifully written. I couldn’t wait to listen every evening. The use of different readers for each character completely brings the story to life and not one voice was out of place as they told the story.
I would recommend this book to everyone.

Utterly compelling.

Oh just fabulous, Bram Stoker apparently wrote some of this in the house that we are currently renovating, so I had to give it a listen. It’s excellent, written diary form which must of been unusual at the time. Exciting, articulate, I was sad when it ended. What a incredible story, it’s no surprise it’s so enduring.

Why hadn’t I found this earlier?

I love the productions of novels as the characters vocalization and sometimes ambient music does so much when you're only engaging with your ears.

A very good production
