Summary

When Jonathan Harker visits Transylvania to help Count Dracula with the purchase of a house in London, he soon discovers some strange and shocking things about his new client. And then some strange things start happening back in England: an apparently unmanned ship is wrecked off the coast of Whitby, a young woman discovers strange puncture marks on her neck and the inmate of a lunatic asylum raves about the 'Master' and his imminent arrival.

First published in 1897, Dracula is an epistolary novel, meaning that the narrative is related through letters, diary entries and newspaper articles. The story is brought to life in this Audible production by a group of actors that you might recognise from TV and film: Himesh Patel (Yesterday), Patricia Allison (Sex Education), Daisy Edgar-Jones (Normal People), Theo James (Divergent series) and Jason Watkins (The Crown).

Brilliant ... couldn’t be better

I first read this book when I was 10 years old - yes, I was a precocious reader and yes, it terrified me so much that in a house full of others, for along time I had to keep the light on all night for fear of vampires. This reading is superb for every character, including Lucy (not so well portrayed in another recording I began to listen to and had to discard) and Van Helsing, who is really difficult to get right. An Audible triumph that does justice to unquestionably the best of all Gothic novels.

Very well narrated and easy to follow

Narrated so well that it has kept me thinking "okay , just another chapter" , and then listened to definitely more than 1 , just as it happens with physical books! I realised I get easily distracted when it comes to audiobooks , but this one has kept me focused even while carrying on with my chores!
100/100 would recommend!

Amazing

i have read this book so many times so I know what happens, the actors of this though brought it to life. I was especially impressed with 'Mina Harker'. Her voice is beautiful and clear and just amazing. I was using this book as night time reading so mostly I would fall asleep to it. I loved it.

Lovely immersive performance

This was my first experience with the novel Dracula and I really liked it. The cast performances were excellent and really brought this story to life for me. Favourite narrators were Dr. Seward and Mina.

Sadly I didn't enjoy Renfield's 'voice' as much as the others. I found it to be a little irritating to listen to sometimes, but thankfully he wasn't too much of a major character. I also found the accents for some of the minor characters to be a bit over the top at times, but that's very minor.

I really liked the character of Mina Harker, she was strong, brave, and kind, even when she was terribly afraid. The story has a steady pace that kept me interested. Overall I really enjoyed listening to this audiobook and I would recommend it.

A gothic epic!

Loved this version of the classic Dracula tale. Easily followed due to the variety of different narrators, which I found confusing when reading it myself. Perfect autumn evening listening.
