Summary

Dracula (1897) first brought vampires to the popular literary consciousness, and they have been firmly entrenched in horror stories ever since.

Jonathan Harker, an English solicitor, travels to Transylvania to meet the mysterious 'Count' who has instructed him to purchase a property in England on his behalf.

Thus begins a series of awful events, where Harker finds himself in the midst of a nightmare, in a deadly game of cat and mouse where he himself is hunted as prey.

With a host of masterful characters including the brilliant Van Helsing, Bram Stoker's classic story has inspired countless adaptations, including numerous movies.

If it's a perfectly-crafted and chillingly read audio fright then you're after then look no further - this tale will have a listener reaching for their crucifixes and garlic bulbs!

Cut to the bone

Rushed along by cutting descriptive passages, thought key by the author, to the setting of the mood. Abridged to the point of ruining.

Abridged but good

I was given this audiobook as a cassette when I was four years old. It's disappointing that there is no unabridged version available with Anthony Valentine as narrator because he has a great voice and gives a great performance.
