I love a good romance with good smut. However, this one was just ok for me. For the first part of the book, the narrators sounded almost AI-generated, which I am going to assume is just production or something else. I grew used to it after a while, but it took time. The story was slow at first, and I wasn't sure if I was gonna finish it. It gets more enjoyable about halfway through once the storyline finally starts to make sense.

I also found out that I hate that during spicy scenes, I don't like referring to a female's part as "my sex". I cringed every time.

Doctor, Doctor! Surgical resident Parker literally bumps into nurse Cassidy setting the mood immediately. Parker is a bit full of himself, and Cassie has not time for that. But there is something about him that pulls her to him. Quickly moving to a spicy relationship, the two find their banter is just foreplay. Parker is helping out in the ER, so the two are together a lot, so that forced proximity builds on not only the spice, but their friendship. As things get a little more serious though, feelings grow and secrets are festering. Dealing with medical ethics, friendships and family, this story has a little bit of everything. This was my first Lexie Woods book, and I have to say, I am sold and cannot wait to see what happens next at Midtown Memorial.

Desiree Ketchum and John Lane are the story tellers and they bring it all to this performance. Ketchum is spunky as Cassidy, whetting her appetite and falling for the resident. Lane is the alpha male, sometimes a bit of a dom and his voice is all that. He plays the wounded ego perfectly too. Loved these two together and enjoyed this narration.
