Summary

For Lizzie Riley, switching her six-year-old son Tom to the local academy school marks a fresh start, post divorce. With its excellent reputation and delightful red-brick building, Lizzie knows it’ll be a safe space away from home.

But there's something strange happening at school. Parents are forbidden from entering the grounds, and inside there are bars across the classroom windows.

Why is Tom coming home exhausted, unable to remember his day?

What are the strange marks on his arm?

And why do the children seem afraid to talk?

Tom’s new school might seem picture-perfect. But sometimes appearances can be deceiving....

A chilling psychological thriller for anyone who loved Behind Closed Doors, Sometimes I Lie and The Couple Next Door.

A Bit Daft But Worth A Listen

The story becomes a bit daft towards the end, but it's well read and worth a listen.

Don't tell the Teacher

I thoroughly enjoyed this book which moved briskly along whilst allowing the plot to emerge slowly but cleverly. I must commend the narrator Imogen Church who was so easy on the ear and brought the story to life.

A bit boring in places and the narration was hit and miss , didn’t expect the ending which was good .

what a drag.<br />

Really struggled to finish this and at the end wished I hadn't bothered because it was as I thought.
Narrator was average, however I had to adjust volume when she spoke too quietly.
I don't recommend it. Sorry.

wo. Totally didn't see that coming!

I've literally only just finished this book in the last 30 minutes, and all I can say is, wo. I've read a lot of thrillers with twists in my time, but that was a total twist in every sense of the word. It's very hard to review this book without giving away spoilers, but I am pretty sure that you, like me, won't be able to stop once you start. I thought I knew exactly ish, where the story was going, how the characters felt, and questioning the school. Nope, completely wrong. I had tears in my eyes at the end. Well done Sussie, brilliant writing! You totally got me there!

An eye opener

This book is well worth reading, the narration and plot are excellent. I loved the children’s * characters, the dialogue was hilarious,a black comedy in the making. I’m not sure I liked the ending, a tad unnecessary but for the sake of completeness, appreciated.
