About this listen

Dolores Claiborne has a story to tell. But it is not quite what the police had expected.

Dolores Claiborne has a confession to make.... She will take her time. Won't be hurried. Will do it her way, sparing neither details nor feelings. Hers or anyone else's.

This is the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. Truth that takes you to the edge of darkness. Dolores Claiborne has a story to tell, and you'd better pay attention - or else.

This is the perfect book to be an audio book. ..the narrator was excellent. ..as a Brit, I don't know if the regional accent is correct, but it sounded fab to me. Love the depth and richness of the characters. Dolores is my newest heroine

Loved it!

Got to be one of the best narrated books I've listened to very very well read by Frances Sternhagen to a point made me search for other books narrated by her. Harvey UK

Really enjoyed this story

I loved this book the first time I read it. Maybe it's been done before, but the whole book being written as a single dialog from a single person really won me over.

As this is written as a single dialog, audiobook is the perfect way to experience this story, and I enjoyed it listening to it even more than reading it. Frances Sternhagen was magnificent and really brought the character to life. She made it seem like you were actually sat in a room with a woman telling you a story, not just reading a book to you.

As always, Stephen King's story-telling is next to none, and being able to portray such a vivid and entrancing story just through a single person's dialog without getting tedious just shows why this man is considered by many one of the greatest authors of our time.

If you haven't listened to a Stephen King audiobook, I cannot recommend this one enough, so stop reading this, and get listening to Delores Claiborne.

Another top-class audiobook

This is unlike many of Kings books it is a story about the love of a mother and the real life horrors she is willing to traverse to protect them. Frances Sternhagen does an amazing performance which is captivating throughout. I finished this in a weekend. The only downside is when mimics the Scottish doctor she uses an Irish accent.

What a change to hear a story mainly about women over 60....craggy, compassionate and tough...and written by a man too....but then that man is THE Stephen King!

Superb narrator.
