Story
There are some odd things about Nate’s new apartment. Of course, he has other things on his mind. He hates his job. He has no money in the bank. No girlfriend. No plans for the future. So while his new home isn’t perfect, it’s livable. The rent is low, the property managers are friendly, and the odd little mysteries don’t nag at him too much. At least, not until he meets Mandy, his neighbor across the hall, and notices something unusual about her apartment. And Xela’s apartment. And Tim’s. And Veek’s.

I have stolen princesses back from sleeping barrow kings. I burned down the town of Trebon. I have spent the night with Felurian and left with both my sanity and my life. I was expelled from the university at a younger age than most people are allowed in. I tread paths by moonlight that others fear to speak of during day. Story
We were fighting on the wrong side of a war we couldn't win. And that was the good news. The Ruhar hit us on Columbus Day. There we were, innocently drifting along the cosmos on our little blue marble, like the native Americans in 1492. Over the horizon come ships of a technologically advanced, aggressive culture, and BAM! There go the good old days, when humans only got killed by each other. So, Columbus Day. It fits. When the morning sky twinkled again, this time with Kristang starships jumping in to hammer the Ruhar, we thought we were saved.

Go Joe
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes, absolutely
What other book might you compare Dog Days to and why?
Charlie Huston's "Joe Pitt" series. I lucked out by buying both series. Joe Pitt first. He was a similar guy but different scenario all together. Both had me in the first few pages. I still look for new books but am sad to say I read both series. I know a new Joe Ledger is coming soon though
Have you listened to any of Ray Porter’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
ray Porter is one of the best narrators ever. His voice abilities are amazing. he identifies with each character and you can identify who is who by the accent and tone. the man has a God Given Talent. I will look for books narrated by him
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Not one, many but then I would give so e of it away
Any additional comments?
If you enjoy a little bad guy being a good guy, fighting supernatural beings and or unusual creatures with edge of your seat anticipation, this is for you

Another hit for Maberry
Where does Dog Days rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
Absolutely near the top
What did you like best about this story?
Specifically in this story would be the introduction of Ghost. Overall the great style of writing Maberry produces
Have you listened to any of Ray Porter’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
Porter gives a stellar performance.
Any additional comments?
Hands down Joe Ledger is one of the best characters created. Maberry writes with so much wit, sarcasm and humor that you can’t help but fall in love (and laugh out loud) with Joe and the rest of DMS.

Great to Find a great new Series
Would you listen to Dog Days again? Why?
Yes. The pacing, character development, and narration are first class.
What did you like best about this story?
Like a good Steve king story, the characters are developed and believable. The tension is developed early and the story moves quickly.
What does Ray Porter bring to the story that you wouldn???t experience if you just read the book?
I was so drawn in by the performance that I forgot it was just one reader.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes it is a short sample
Any additional comments?
I will be reading more of this series and author.

Man's best friend + revenge = good story
Is there anything you would change about this book?
No, the story moved along at a nice pace. I went it to it knowing this is a short story to hold me over until the next book in the serious became available.
What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)
The ending was satisfying. The story helps in creating the base relationship between Joe and his K-9 partner Ghost.
Have you listened to any of Ray Porter’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I have listened to the Joe Ledger series 1-3 as well as the missing files, all of the short stories to date. This work ties in nicely with his others.
Could you see Dog Days being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?
I could see the Joe Ledger story told through movies. My Choice for Joe, Michael C. Hall
Any additional comments?
Great read if you follow the Joe Ledger story.

Hope this is indicative
I already have Patient Zero in my library so I hope this is indicative of JM's writing. The story seemed to flow naturally. I chuckled a time or two and I felt for the character. For me it also always helps to have a dog in the story. I normally don't like stories with long fight scenes, as I don't believe it takes a lot of talent to write fight scenes, and I prefer that they just tell me who won. The fight scene was not too long, seemed necessary and had a surprise.
This isn't Proust or George Eliot, but it fits my taste.
At 57 minutes I am hoping it is a good introduction to Maberry's work.
Narrator was great.
