Michelle Asante reads this brand new adventure for the Fifteenth Doctor and Belinda.

"A piercing shriek ruptured the silence. The agonised howl of a creature in deep, shattering pain. That haunting, spectral scream."

When a psychic shriek for help nearly overwhelms the TARDIS, the Doctor and Belinda track the source to a distant planet. There they find a sentient, telepathic bioship named Adama and ragged colonists descended from the original crew. Adama is dying, and their spectral screams are growing strong enough to kill anyone in the vicinity.

When Adama crashed 100 years ago, it was with a great treasure on board, stolen from the ruthless Gangnax Imperium – technology that could either unite worlds or destroy them. If they are to save the bioship, the Doctor and Belinda must survive suspicious colonists, greedy bounty hunters and military forces determined to reclaim what’s theirs – before Adama’s final death throes destroy them all.

Michelle Asante reads Hannah Fergesen's original novel featuring the Doctor, as played on TV by Ncuti Gatwa, and Belinda Chandra, as played on TV by Varada Sethu.

Amazing Story!

No spoilers on the story but oh my, it's boring. I've read and listened to literally over 250 Dr Who books so far and this probably ranks in my bottom 20!

Yes, I know it's a simpler style than the older books but there's plenty of 9, 10, 11, 12, 13 and 15 Dr books that are entertaining and enjoyable. This one is just mind numbingly boring. The plot is beyond basic; the characterisation weak, the Dr doesn't feel like the Dr at all. The author has him saying "babes" several times as though that is enough to invoke his character. Other than that, it's just generic and could be absolutely anyone.

And the narrator makes a really really really odd choice when trying to narrate the Dr. She makes him sound slightly Scottish, which is just bizarre and instantly took me out of what little story there was.

I can't think of a single good reason to recommend this book.

Try Caged, instead. That's another 15th Dr book. Again, it's a pretty simple read but it's got an actual plot, distinct characters, good characterisation of the Dr and of Ruby, and then there's the added benefit of Bonnie Langford narrating.

This one, however. I just don't see the point.

not very good, and a terrible narrator
