Summary

Dilly is devastated: with her husband unable to work and four children already at home, they cannot afford to feed their newborn baby. Heartbroken, she delivers her baby girl to the Farthing family, who have just lost their own daughter to measles.

This act of desperation will change the lives of both families irrevocably. But when the chance for true love finally comes, will Dilly choose family over her own happiness?

Lovely

I enjoyed listening to this story about two families, each with different lifestyles, and how their lives became drawn together. I found details of WW1 very sad and the story ended too abruptly that i wonder if there may be a sequel!

Good story

The storyline was good as were the characters, but the ending was extremely disappointing. Very well narrated bringing the characters alive.

Gripping

Excellent story line was drawn in by the characters, you can laugh, cry and empathize with the hardship of the time it was set.

Struggled!!

What disappointed you about Dilly's Sacrifice?

Not sure why - but really struggled to get into this story line it seemed to go on and on forever about something and nothing! Left it to one side with 2 hours listening to go.

Any additional comments?

Think this is one of the least enjoyable books i have ever listened to - even considered applying for a refund!!

Super Dilly

I read the series through a location interest, without that, I would not have got very far. If you like black hats and white hats and more than a smattering of cliches, then this series may be for you. Unremarkable and sweet.

loved the story but not the narrator.

Would you listen to Dilly's Sacrifice again? Why?

I would if the narrator was different.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Dilly's Sacrifice?

The history of the war

Would you listen to another book narrated by Charlie Sanderson?

Maybe, but would want to improve and not sound like reading a school book
