Summary

From visionary Silicon Valley entrepreneur Tom Siebel comes a penetrating examination of the new technologies that are disrupting business and government - and how organizations can harness them to transform into digital enterprises.

The confluence of four technologies - elastic cloud computing, big data, artificial intelligence, and the internet of things - writes Siebel, is fundamentally changing how business and government will operate in the 21st century.

Siebel masterfully guides listeners through a fascinating discussion of the game-changing technologies driving digital transformation and provides a roadmap to seize them as a strategic opportunity. He shows how leading enterprises such as Enel, 3M, Royal Dutch Shell, the US Department of Defense, and others are applying AI and IoT with stunning results.

Digital Transformation is the guidebook every business and government leader needs to survive and thrive in the new digital age.

Interesting listen ruined by the narrator

An interesting introduction to various elements of digital transformation from a leadership perspective. However, the author narrates at a snail's pace, pauses for too long and inspires sleep. It is the worst narration I've ever heard. This issue can be alleviated by listening at 1.75x speed, but even then his voice is still not suitable for the content.

The bible for your Digital Transformation projects

It's always an advantage to me when the authors read their books, and Tom Siebel effortlessly conveys all of his experience and seriousness with his reading performance. The book was well structured, and in theory, it would allow a listener to jump to chapters of their particular interest easily. The insights provided were highly relevant to me as a manager in a software company, even though the target audience would likely be business executives and consultants. I found myself taking many notes, as the book is full of compelling facts and relevant advice. It was nice to see that Tom Siebel shared blueprints from his own company C3.ai of how to succeed with digitial transformation projects.

Good business ovetview

This book really helps you understand what role you can play and what you need to know to dive digital transformation in business. If you're not techy I'd suggest you read chapters and 2 and then you jump to 10-12 only to go back yo the others later. And maybe read again 10-12 with a different appreciation. The book houses interesting nuggets of the non tech important aspects you need to know yo embark on a digital transformation. Unfortunately it points out to sources to better understand the technology underpinnings (which is essential and greatly appreciated) but does not offer similar resources for the non tech aspects of DT. The audio version is no good. The reader is very slow (fortunately you can compensate for it by speeding up) but the voice is still harsh and unclear.

From a professional in the field....

From a professional that helps clients implement or execute digital transformations, this book is nicely detailed and provides a good balance between an overview and depth. That said the narrator couldn’t sound more boring. I had to take breaks from listening to this book and going to other material because he was utterly monotonous. Highly recommend getting a new narrator and republishing.

glad I kept listening

at first I was turned off by the narration but, after getting into it there was no way I wasn't finishing. the accuracy and value of the information on DT is unparalleled and presented extremely well.

Good overview of digital transformation.

The book gives a overview of new age technologies, with some history of the technology sector, highlighting the importance of digital transformation which is especially important in today's scenario where both companies and consumers are dealing with the global pandemic. This book is a great starting point for anyone who is interested in driving the change.
