Summary
One morning in April 1924, the Honorable Daisy Dalrymple Fletcher finds herself in a most unenviable position. Despite her best attempts to elude the inevitable, she must face her darkest fears and with all the strength and courage she can muster, must confront the one person she has tried hardest to avoid - the dentist. But upon arriving for her appointment, she finds the waiting room deserted and adjoining examination room locked, with no hint of either Dr. Talmadge or his nurse. Thinking to leave quietly, Daisy's retreat is halted by the return of the nurse and, with the help of Mrs. Talmadge, the two begin searching for the inexplicably absent doctor. Exhausting all other possibilities, they resort to looking once again in the surgery where they find him stilling in his dentist's chair with the nitrous mask strapped to his face, the tank of nitrous turned on full, a smile on his face and stone-cold dead.
While the circumstances of his death are out of the ordinary, there's no reason to suspect that it was anything other than a tragic, if inevitable, accident of a careless dope fiend. Certain that there is something more than happenstance and an accident involved in the dentist's untimely death, Daisy is determined to uncover the truth behind a case of what she is certain is murder most foul.

Love listening to these mysteries, easy to follow, & occasionally solve them too 😂! Good performances from the reader, and good overall plot too

brilliantly written suspense crime story
a bit slow at first abut as it went on it thourghly enjoyed it. will look for another in the series

A good read !
A great story with a final twist in the true Agatha Christie style. Thoroughly enjoyed this book. Reader was also excellent

I really like this narrator too. One who can pronunciatie words and do accents.

Lovely period story in the 'roaring twenties '
Narration perfect, brought out characters to blend in with the plot, I see the late Diana Rigg in this role of Daisy Dalrymple.

Simply splendid
Nicely delivered tale that has a good number of sufficiently suspicious characters. Daisy Dalrymple and her mysteries continue to charm.

Another good Daisy mystery
I always enjoy these lighthearted mysteries. In particular enjoy the touches here and there of the era - fashion, culture, working at this time. This one hints as the introduction of a ‘murder bag’ I’m hoping the police have it a better name when they finally created one!

Enjoyed
Very good. Still some very odd choices for pronunciations. For example ‘’Aged’ as opposed to ‘ay jed ‘. Makes the person sound like a wine! A few others but still a great improvement on the early recordings. Thanks.
